Position: Specialist, Public Health
Location: Grand Turk Cruise Center, Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands
Reports To: HESS Manager
Position Summary
To support the HESS Manager and Public Health Supervisor in implementing and maintaining public health programs. This role ensures operational compliance, assists in inspections and audits, supports emergency preparedness, and promotes a culture of prevention across port operations.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following and may be amended from time to time:
Public Health Support
Perform water quality sampling and recordkeeping (potable water, recreational water, and ice).
Support food safety inspections and ice sampling coordination.
Participate in public health audits.
Maintain inventory of public health supplies and PPE.
Assist the technical or maintenance team in ensuring execution of water system maintenance (cleaning & disinfection of cistern tanks, distribution system hyperchlorination, back-flow preventer test, etc.).
Provide guidance in response to public health non-compliances.
Conduct inspections of housekeeping practices.
Emergency Preparedness
Participate in cross-functional emergency drills and training.
Maintain readiness of emergency supplies and documentation.
Support implementation of emergency response protocols.
Assist in execution of emergency response protocols.

Other Functions
Maintain accurate records and support data analysis.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed.
Participate in on-the-job training and educational sessions.
Maintain accurate recordkeeping and provide timely completion of assigned tasks within the maintenance software.
Adheres to Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Code of Conduct, Audit Procedures and any control related responsibility for financial data entered, stored, or reported via business systems within employee’s control (list not exhaustive).

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in environmental, public health, or safety preferred.
Experience:
1–3 years in HESS-related roles or operational support functions.
Familiarity with standards such as CDC, WHO, and HACCP is a plus.
