Stirling Council seeks to appoint a highly motivated and talented professional to lead Our Lady’s RC Primary School.

Our Lady’s Primary School is a Catholic School which is part of the Raploch Community Campus. The Campus is a state of the art education facility comprising 2 mainstream primary schools, Raploch Primary and Our Lady’s Primary, Raploch Nursery and Castleview School for children with additional support needs. The Campus has community sports and expressive arts facilities, used by the schools during the day, adult learning and youth spaces as well as a school library. Each is a separate establishment who share facilities for expressive arts, sports and outdoor play and learning. Children from all the schools eat together in the dining room. They also play together in the playground supervised by staff from the different schools.

At Our Lady’s RC Primary School the staff aim to provide educational experiences of the highest quality for all our pupils within a Catholic environment with equal opportunity for all children. There is a positive ethos that fosters an effective partnership between home, school, parish and the wider community. Our staff team works within our agreed educational philosophy which has, as its first priority, the needs of our children and which operates in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation.

The school catchment includes the Gypsy Travellers site at Bridgend Park, Craigforth. Therefore, the school roll changes throughout the school session and is currently projected for around 90 pupils across 4 classes for 2026-27.

This is an exciting opportunity requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge of current educational developments.  The applicant will be committed to delivering excellence and equity by sustaining school improvement, promoting high quality learning and teaching, supporting health and wellbeing and raising achievement and attainment for all learners. Stirling’s culture of self-evaluation in schools and nurseries means that the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with innovative, reflective and skilled professionals.

Applicants must have achieved the Standard for Headship or equivalent, awarded by the General Teaching Council for Scotland or have held a permanent appointment as a headteacher of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August 2020 in order to be appointed permanently to this post. Applicants who can demonstrate commitment to and likelihood of achieving this standard within 30 months may be considered for a temporary appointment (of no more than 30 months) while working toward the standard. https://www.gtcs.org.uk/professional-standards/the-standards/headship.aspx

Applicants must seek Catholic Church Approval when submitting their application for the post and a copy of the Approval should be provided to the Chair of the Panel prior to the interview. You can access the forms and further information from the Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES) website: https://sces.org.uk/church-approval/

Please note that although the application process allows the uploading of a CV (resume), this is not a requirement for teaching posts and if submitted will not be taken into account during shortlisting to ensure a consistent approach for assessing all candidates. You should instead fully answer the question section with all relevant experience and skills.

The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children.  If your application is progressed after the interview, you will be asked to complete the form and have your details verified.

If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
