About the role:

The Head of WHSEQ is a senior Operations leadership role, reporting to the Executive General Manager, Operations. In this role you will drive WHSEQ strategy and governance across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring safe, compliant and continuously improving operations for our advertising assets in complex, high‑risk environments (rail, bus, roadside, airports and public spaces).

Accountable for the WHSEQ strategy and Integrated Management System, you will maintain key external certifications and accreditations (including ISO standards) and serves as the single point of accountability for WHSEQ performance across ANZ.


A Day in the Life:

Whilst there’s no typical day in the dynamic world of media, you can expect your role to involve the following:

  • Lead WHSEQ strategy, governance and performance across Australia and New Zealand
  • Design, implement and continually improve the WHSEQ strategy and Integrated Management System
  • Maintain external WHSEQ certifications and accreditations (e.g. ISO standards)
  • Ensure all advertising assets in complex, high‑risk environments (rail, bus, roadside, airports and public spaces) are safe and compliant
  • Provide expert WHSEQ advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Company Officers
  • Monitor, report and drive continuous improvement in WHSEQ outcomes across ANZ
  • Embed company values (Better Together, Bravery Counts, Excellence Always, Taking Ownership) within the WHSEQ function and broader operations
  • Lead, develop and coach the WHSEQ team as part of the Senior Leadership Group
  • Partner with Operations and other functions to integrate WHSEQ into business planning and decision‑making

 

About You:

You are an experienced WHSEQ leader from a complex, high‑risk environment, with deep expertise in safety, environment and quality management systems and ISO‑aligned certifications.

You’ve successfully designed and implemented WHSEQ strategy at scale, led high‑performing teams and influenced senior executives, acting as a clear point of accountability for risk and performance

Strategic, commercially aware and data‑driven, you embed WHSEQ into everyday operations and decision‑making and communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels.

As well as:

  • Proven experience leading a multi‑site, multi‑country WHSEQ function, including managing advisors and specialists.
  • Strong background in contractor management, critical risk frameworks and incident investigation.
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS, occupational health and safety, engineering, environmental science, risk management or related field.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience leading a multi-site, multi-country WHSEQ function
  • Experience managing WHSEQ advisors and specialists
  • Strong background in contractor management
  • Experience with critical risk frameworks
  • Experience conducting incident investigations
  • Tertiary qualification in workplace health and safety, occupational health and safety, engineering, environmental science, risk management, or a related field
  • Experience designing and implementing WHSEQ strategy at scale
  • Experience with safety, environmental and quality management systems and ISO-aligned certifications
