About the role
- Embed and own the Risk and Control Matrix for Underwriting; ensure risks are well understood and ownership is clear, ensure inherent risk is quantified, risk appetite is defined and ensure adequate controls are operating effectively to bring residual risk into appetiteEstablish efficient governance that allows the Underwriting leadership team to see an aggregated view of the risks they are accountable for and how effectively controls are mitigating those risks, supplemented by other Key Risk Indicators (e.g. audit points) that facilitates timely and effective management interventions
- Build an assurance framework that ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the Risk and Control matrix and highlights any corrective actions needed
- Establish an effective FLOD operating model; centralizing control operation where it is beneficial to do so and ensuring oversight and assurance where it makes more sense to for controls to be operated by specialist functions
- Ensure we can evidence an effective UW FLOD
