About the Role:
The Head of Terminal Procurement – Latin America is accountable for defining and executing the terminal procurement strategy across the Latin America region, ensuring cost leadership, operational resilience, and strong strategic partnerships with terminal operators. The role leads regional terminal sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management, while working closely with Ocean, Network, and Operations stakeholders to support network performance and long-term capacity needs.
This position plays a critical role in managing commercial exposure, negotiating complex terminal agreements, and ensuring contracts are executed with discipline and transparency. Additionally, the role supports ocean investment opportunities through structured analysis and preparation, providing commercial, cost, and risk assessments related to terminal footprint, capacity transitions, and long-term infrastructure options.
In this role, you will:
Lead terminal procurement for Latin America, defining and executing sourcing and negotiation strategies that support cost leadership, network resilience, and long-term capacity needs.
Own end-to-end terminal commercial management, including major negotiations, contract structures, governance, benefit realization, and management of commercial exposure and risk.
Support ocean investment opportunities through structured analysis and preparation, providing fact-based assessments on terminal footprint, concessions, expansions, capacity transitions, and contractual implications to inform investment discussions.
Lead senior supplier relationships with key terminal operators and port authorities, driving performance management, disciplined escalation, and long-term partnership development.
Act as the primary terminal procurement interface to Ocean, Network, Operations, Product, and Finance, delivering executive-ready insights, scenarios, and negotiation context.
Lead and develop the Latin America Terminal Procurement team, setting clear priorities, strengthening analytical and negotiation capability, and ensuring consistent ways of working.
Ensure compliance, ESG, and risk management, including adherence to procurement governance, sustainability follow-up with suppliers, and proactive mitigation of operational, commercial, and reputational risks.

Strong ability to apply a disciplined, fact-based way of working across procurement plays, including market analysis, cost and performance drivers, option structuring, and clear trade-off articulation. Capable of turning complex data into actionable insights that shape sourcing strategy, negotiations, and execution.
Negotiation & Contract Leadership
Proven leader of complex, high-value terminal negotiations with strong discipline around contract structures, governance, and commercial exposure.
Team Leadership, Engagement & Development
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, create engagement and clarity of direction, build commercial and analytical capability, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Senior Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration
Ability to work confidently with senior internal stakeholders and external executives, collaborating across functions, influencing outcomes through facts and insight, and navigating complexity with clarity and judgement.
Spanish language capability is highly important given the regional scope of the role.

Skills Required
- Proven experience defining and executing terminal procurement and sourcing strategies (terminals/ports) in Latin America or similar markets.
- Track record leading complex, high-value terminal negotiations, contract structuring, and governance.
- Strong analytical capability: market analysis, cost and performance driver assessment, structured option analysis.
- Experience providing commercial, cost, and risk assessments to support investment and capacity decisions.
- Demonstrated supplier relationship management with terminal operators and port authorities, including performance management and escalation.
- Leadership experience building, developing, and managing a regional procurement team; coaching negotiation and analytical capability.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across Ocean, Network, Operations, Product, and Finance.
- Knowledge of procurement governance, compliance, ESG follow-up, and proactive risk mitigation for operational and reputational risks.
- Spanish language capability (highly important for regional scope).
