ABOUT US

HyperionDev is one of the largest providers of accelerated tech education in EMEA and one of the oldest providers of 'coding bootcamps' in the world. We work with top universities such as Imperial College London, The London School of Economics, The University of Edinburgh, and Stellenbosch University to deliver structured technical courses and bootcamps that accelerate people into fulfilling tech careers. We have been recognised as one of the top education technology scaleups in the world and gained the financial backing of Meta (previously Facebook) which recognised us as  the most socially impactful startup operating in Africa, where we initially started our work.

We are dedicated to closing the global tech skills gap and we achieve this by integrating tech education with human mentorship and expert code review powered by a workforce in Southern Africa, which lowers the cost of an accessible education in technology. This model has been successful, allowing us to reach millions of learners a year from over 60 countries. We have also partnered with government bodies such as the UK's Department for Education who provide scholarships for students to study on our bootcamps and gain employment at companies such as AstraZeneca and the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS).

We're backed by nearly 2000 investors, having raised the largest crowdfunding round of funding for an edtech company in history. As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale up tech business join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place.

 ABOUT THE ROLE

HyperionDev is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Studio & Traffic to lead both the creative process and the effective management of our team’s workflows. In this role, you will oversee all creative elements—ranging from visual design and copywriting to campaign production—and ensure their timely delivery across our website, emails, social media, advertising, and printed materials.

You will be integral to keeping the studio running smoothly, allocating resources, setting priorities, and ensuring that all work is completed on schedule and to the highest quality. This role requires a dual focus: on one hand, driving the creativity and innovation behind our marketing content, and on the other, maintaining operational efficiency to keep everything moving forward seamlessly.

Your work will support the Product Marketing team by ensuring that our creative outputs resonate with potential HyperionDev students, inspire them to join our bootcamps, and effectively share the success stories of our graduates. The Head of Creative & Traffic will manage the full lifecycle of creative briefs—from conception to execution—and ensure all projects align with HyperionDev’s brand and quality standards, supporting both local and international campaigns.

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive problem solver with excellent project management skills, who is comfortable juggling multiple priorities and collaborating across various teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment that values both operational excellence and creative exploration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the creative studio, managing both the creative vision and the operational flow of work, ensuring a balance between quality and efficiency.
  • Direct and oversee the team’s workflow, effectively “trafficking” tasks to manage resources and ensure that projects are completed on time and to high standards.
  • Develop and implement SOPs, tools, and processes that streamline creative operations and drive efficiency across the Product & Performance Marketing teams.
  • Act as the main point of contact for receiving briefs from external partners, internal marketing, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring clarity and setting expectations for deliverables.
  • Maintain a high level of creative quality while driving operational consistency—overseeing the production and delivery of assets for partner marketing programs locally and internationally.
  • Measure and report on the productivity and performance of the creative team, using insights to enhance team effectiveness and the quality of outputs.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, copywriters, and other creative professionals to ensure alignment with partner guidelines and creative standards.
  • Balance the demands of creative excellence with operational effectiveness, ensuring all deliverables meet brand standards and are produced within set deadlines.
  • Maintain and optimize core marketing processes, updating documentation, and ensuring all creative procedures are aligned and streamlined.
  • Provide exceptional project management and prioritisation skills to keep projects on track, while introducing software tools to enhance collaboration and productivity.
  • Lead ongoing optimisation efforts for our website, paid media, and social media, ensuring that all creative assets are engaging and strategically deployed.

 REQUIREMENTSMinimum

  • 4+ years of work experience as a traffic manager in a mostly digital environment
  • 2+ years of experience actively involved in setting the creative direction for a large consumer or business-facing brand, driving creative / studio teams
  • A qualification in digital marketing, creative writing, journalism or a related field
  • Excellent written communication skills, an understanding of persuasive selling and near-perfect verbal communication skills
  • Experience using project management software and capacity analysis to improve team output whilst building in quality assurance and checklists for completeness
  • Practical experience with briefing content to a creative studio of copywriters and designers to pull pieces together, including contracting 3rd parties where required
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing and its key success metrics
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and popular email marketing platforms and solutions like Sendgrid, Intercom or Klaviyo
  • A track record of exceeding targets and strong Marketing career ambition
  • A highly organised and structured individual who can function in the eye of the storm and bring calm to a high-paced work environment
  • Detailed understanding of Social Media Marketing, Comms and PR

Preferred

  • 6+ years of traffic management experience, coordinating digital assets and campaign collateral at scale in a high-profile marketing or advertising agency
  • A portfolio demonstrating excellent copywriting skills, design skills and / or video production skills to support high volumes of content production to high standards
  • Experience implementing new or repurposing existing project management software to create significant improvements in workload and pipeline efficiency
  • Technical platform abilities around social media scheduling tools, email marketing platforms and tracking & measuring tools (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager)
