Overview:
The Head of Strategic Partnership & Business Growth is a role responsible for driving significant revenue growth by identifying, cultivating, and securing new relationships with HNW and UHNW individuals, families, and their associated entities (e.g., Family Offices, Trusts).
This role actively involves reimagining and optimizing client onboarding journey to ensure a truly delightful customer service experience, and strengthening collaboration with interdepartmental/
division, i.e. Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, to identify, engage, and convert qualified clients for onshore and offshore onboarding
In addition, this role will leads the establishment and promotion of the Single Family Office (SFO) initiative in Forest City Johor, positioning the bank as a key industry player in Malaysia’s evolving family office ecosystem and as a trusted advisor for ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) seeking bespoke wealth structuring and cross border advisory solutions
It requires a visionary thinker with a proven track record of successful business development in the HNW segment, exceptional relationship management skills, and a deep understanding of the sophisticated needs of affluent clients
Responsibilities
Strategic Market Penetration:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy specifically tailored to penetrate and expand the HNW/UHNW market segment.
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and emerging market segments within the HNW landscape.
- Execute strategic collaboration models with external & internal partners to identify and refer qualified prospects for both onshore and offshore Private Banking client acquisition
Client Experience & Process Optimization:
- Lead strategic initiatives to reimagine and optimize client onboarding and credit assessment processes, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and truly delightful customer service experience for our HNW clientele.
- Plan and execute networking and educational events targeting HNW and UHNW clients across key business corridors, with special focus on the Forest City ecosystem. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Investment, and Product teams) to design programs that enhance the bank’s brand and visibility among potential SFO and Private Banking clients
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Partnership:
- Lead the Forest City Single Family Office initiative, positioning it as a gateway for regional and international UHNW families to establish their presence in Malaysia. Develop and articulate the bank’s SFO value proposition, including structure, governance, unique selling points, and permissible activities under Malaysian regulations.
- Provide internal training to Private Banking and front-line teams to enhance their understanding of SFO concepts, enabling them to identify and trigger client interest.
- Build and maintain strong personal relationships with stakeholders, business partners and key business influencers.
Strategic Performance & Insight:
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture within HLB Private Bank and cross-divisional teams. Establish clear performance metrics and monitor progress of referral conversions and SFO pipeline development
- Prepare and deliver compelling, executive-level presentations and strategic proposals to prospective clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strategically manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure optimal return on investment for all business development initiatives.
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Banking/Investment/Finance or a related field from any recognized university.
At least 15 years of relevant banking and wealth management experience - At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing HNW banking and wealth management sales.
- Proven track record of accomplishment in the management of HNW segment
Certification/Licensing Requirements:
Possess relevant certification and licenses in Investment, Treasury and Bancassurance
