The Role

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the overall strategic partnership/alliances and community roadmap for Commercial Banking, aligned with CIMB’s business objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential alliance partners (e.g. industry associations, government bodies, Co-secs, FDI networks) that complement our commercial banking customer profiles and solutions.
  • Collaborate across functional teams (Branch, Product, Coverage, Digital, Marketing, Legal etc) to operationalize partnerships and ensure seamless execution of events/referral programs etc.

Partnership Lifecycle Management

  • Drive the end-to-end partnership process: prospecting, negotiation, structuring, contracting, launch, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Develop joint business plans with clear objectives, deliverables, and governance structures for each strategic partner, as well as community outreach programs
  • Be the primary relationship point for key strategic alliances, ensuring mutual value creation and resolving escalated issues.

Revenue & Growth Generation

  • Design and implement co-marketing and co-sell initiatives with partners, as well as the community outreach programs with Branches/Coverage across Malaysia to generate qualified leads, conversions of leads to customers, leading to direct revenue.
  • Collaborate with product teams to create bundled or integrated solutions that leverage partner strengths and address specific commercial client needs.

Ecosystem & Market Activation

  • Conceptualize and have CIMB to participate/lead in high-impact events (e.g. Commercial Banking summits, industry roundtables, client webinars, co-branded workshops) to drive engagement, generate leads, and strengthen CIMB’s thought leadership.

Job requirement:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, alliance management, or corporate development within the financial services, fintech, or technology sectors.
  • Proven track record of negotiating, closing, and managing complex, high-value B2B partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of Commercial Banking products, client needs, and the competitive landscape in Malaysia.
  • Strong existing network within the Malaysian government networks, industry ecosystem for commercial banking segments, and fintech community.
  • Able to navigate and partner with internal distribution channels to originate and drive community outreach programs. 
  • Excellent financial and business acumen with a clear focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Strategic Thinker & Influencer: Ability to develop a compelling vision and influence internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Dealmaker: Skilled in structuring win-win partnerships and navigating contractual negotiations.
  • Commercial Driver: Relentless focus on converting relationships into tangible business results.
  • Project Manager: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple partnerships and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative Leader: Ability to work effectively across silos to mobilize resources and execute partnership plans.
