Capital Area Head Start is seeking Substitutes to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. Substitutes support classroom staff in the delivery of quality educational programming, ensuring the safety of children ages 3-5, and assisting with the implementation of daily lesson plans and activities.  

Position Details: 

  • $15.68 per hour 

  • Casual/Per Diem, Non Exempt position 

  • Schedule: Hours between 7:30AM and 4:30PM based on center 

  • Positions available in Dauphin and Cumberland counties

Minimum Requirements:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and learn web based systems 

  • Ability to travel to home visits, training, and other locations 

  • Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, Child Abuse and FBI clearances 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Preschool CDA or Associate’s degree in early childhood education 

  • Experience working with young children 

  • Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start 

  • Bi/multi-lingual
