Job Summary

The Head of Quality Services is responsible for leading the Global Capability Center (GCC) Quality Services organization, delivering centralized support for Quality Systems, Documentation Management, Compliance Administration, Data Analytics, Translation Services, and related Quality Operations activities. This role ensures the efficient, compliant, and customer-focused delivery of global quality services through standardized processes, strong governance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The position partners closely with Site Quality organizations, Digital teams, and business stakeholders to drive quality performance, inspection readiness, and digital transformation while fostering Lonza's Quality First culture.

What you will do:

Quality Services Leadership

  • Lead the GCC Quality Services organization, ensuring reliable, compliant, and efficient delivery of all assigned quality support services.
  • Establish and maintain service delivery models, governance frameworks, and operating standards aligned with global Quality requirements.
  • Ensure achievement of agreed service levels, performance metrics, and customer expectations.
  • Drive a customer-focused culture that supports operational excellence and business success.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Oversee global documentation services, including document lifecycle management, document administration, archiving, translation services, and true-copy processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, Data Integrity, and regulatory requirements governing controlled documentation.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement across documentation and knowledge management processes.

Quality Compliance Services

  • Lead the delivery of quality compliance support activities, including metrics reporting, governance preparation, complaint administration, quality records coordination, and compliance monitoring.
  • Ensure consistent execution of quality processes and drive harmonization across supported sites and functions.
  • Support inspection readiness and compliance initiatives across the global network.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Lead Quality Data Analytics capabilities, including trend analysis, statistical support, reporting, visualization, and performance insights.
  • Ensure delivery of accurate and meaningful data to support Quality Reviews, Continued Process Verification (CPV), Product Quality Reviews (PQRs), Quality Councils, inspections, and management decision-making.
  • Promote data-driven decision making through effective analytics and reporting solutions.

Operational Excellence & Digital Transformation

  • Drive automation, simplification, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across all Quality Services activities.
  • Lead digital transformation efforts and support the adoption of quality technologies and platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize service delivery, improve customer experience, and increase operational efficiency.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with Site Quality Heads, Quality Systems teams, Digital organizations, and operational stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for service-related issues, operational risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between GCC service delivery, business priorities, and regulatory expectations.

People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Quality Services professionals.
  • Create development pathways and capability-building programs across Quality Systems, Documentation Management, Data Analytics, Compliance, and Translation Services.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Compliance & Inspection Readiness

  • Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with GMP, GxP, Data Integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inspection readiness across supported processes, systems, and operations.
  • Support audits, regulatory inspections, and quality assessments as required.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage departmental budgets, workforce planning, capacity management, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources aligned with business demand and strategic priorities.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement actions to improve productivity and service quality.

What we are looking for:

Education

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or business field preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in GMP-regulated industries such as Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, or related Life Sciences sectors.
  • Proven experience managing Quality Systems, Quality Operations, Shared Services, Global Business Services (GBS), or Centers of Excellence.
  • Experience leading global and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with quality and business platforms such as Veeva, TrackWise, Document Management Systems, LIMS, SAP, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance programs.
  • Experience establishing, scaling, or transforming Global Capability Centers or Shared Service organizations.
  • Experience leading digital transformation, automation, or quality systems implementation initiatives.
