Hearth is on a mission to empower America's small business professionals to build growing, profitable companies.
The Role
Own Hearth's paid acquisition end-to-end: run and scale Meta and Google campaigns, build programmatic channels, manage budgets and P&L, optimize landing pages and tracking, run rigorous A/B tests, set up attribution and reporting, and leverage AI to improve creative, audiences, and bidding for contractor lead generation.

About Hearth

Hearth is the AI growth system for local home improvement small businesses. We build revenue-critical software for home improvement contractors — the roofers, HVAC techs, and builders who keep America running.

Our platform helps real business owners win more jobs, protect profit margins, and manage homeowner relationships professionally so they can build generational companies for their families and communities.

We are now building the next layer: a personal AI employee for every small business in the trades focused on autonomously generating sales for America’s home improvement pros. An assistant who answers every call 24/7, qualifies leads, books appointments, follows up on quotes and estimates, and helps small business owners go from missing half of their business to capturing all of it.

With 15,000+ paying customers, default profitability, and backing from some of the world’s best investors (Founder’s Fund, 8VC, Human Capital, etc.), Hearth is focused on bringing AI to the trades.

The Opportunity

You own how Hearth acquires customers, and you build the system that does it.

Hearth has already built the AI-first part. We have an AI acquisition tool running in production today that scores and values inbound demand and feeds our bidding. It works.

Your job is to run it and make it great. You will work hands-on with our CEO, who built it, as it scales, and you will take it over fully. That means owning whether it is right, whether the people betting budget on it can trust what it tells them, and how much stronger it is each quarter than the quarter before.

Then there is everything around it. The funnel the tool sits inside, the measurement that proves what each stage did, the automation connecting the ad platforms to the sales floor, and the ideas and content that grow the top of it. All of that is still to be built, and it is also yours.

Make the engine great first. The rest gets easier once it is.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Increase qualified contractor lead volume
  • Maintain efficient CAC
  • Scale spend while preserving ROAS
  • Build a repeatable paid acquisition engine

What You'll Own:

  • The AI acquisition engine. You run it every day, and you make it better. You are accountable for it being accurate, for everyone downstream being able to trust what it says, and for it getting materially stronger under you.
  • Customer acquisition cost. You own the number. You move it with code and bid logic, not with a bigger budget.
  • Lead volume at a CAC that holds. Scaling spend is easy. Scaling spend without breaking unit economics is the job.
  • The funnel. You build it end to end. Ad, landing page, lead, handoff to sales. Every stage is yours to design, instrument, and improve, and no stage belongs to someone else.
  • The measurement. You build the way we know what worked. Attribution across stages, conversion tracking that survives contact with reality, daily reporting in SQL and Python that people actually open. If we cannot see what a dollar did, that is yours to solve.
  • How we grow. Content, offers, creative, audiences, new channels. You bring the ideas for reaching more contractors, you design the tests that resolve them, and you kill what loses.
  • The acquisition stack. Feed automation, ad scripts, bid strategy, pixels, the pipelines carrying data from the ad platforms into the CRM and back out. You build it, you run it, you are on the hook when it is wrong.

What We're Looking For:

One question sits behind every interview: did you build the system, or did you manage the people and agencies who built it?

  • Deep hands-on Google and Meta. Not oversight of them. You have run real budget in both accounts yourself, and you know where each platform tells you what you want to hear.
  • You build AI-first, and you know the plumbing. You have wired models into real systems and used them to do several people's worth of work, not to write ad copy faster. You can explain how you got something accurate enough to rely on, and how you knew it was.
  • You treat AI as a teacher, not just a tool. You use it to learn things you do not know yet, and that is how you will get up to speed here on a market, a stack, and a set of problems you have not seen before.
  • You build funnels, not campaigns. You have owned the whole path from click to closed, and you instrumented it so you could tell which stage was actually costing you.
  • You write SQL and Python well enough to answer your own questions, or you can get Claude to do it for you. Either way, you do not file a ticket to find out why conversions dropped.
  • You are technical enough to go where things break. Pixels, APIs, attribution, conversion tracking. You debug it yourself. And when you hit something you have never seen before, you go and learn it. Nothing here scares you.
  • 3 to 5 years where the work was actually yours. A startup, a small team, a team of one. We care more about what you built than where you built it. Most of this is teachable. The instinct to build is not.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • You have a track record of owning a core business metric (CAC, LTV, or lead volume) where you were responsible for the result, not just the management of the budget.
  • You have written and maintained (or gotten Claude to write and maintain) production SQL or Python scripts to automate your own reporting and bid logic.
  • Experience in building and instrumenting a customer funnel.
  • You prioritize building tools and systems that compound over time, rather than relying on agency-managed processes.
  • You are adept at and enjoy diving into the weeds yourself, debugging pixels and API integrations, data-science-eque work, etc. You don't wait on others to get things done.

What We're Not Looking For:

  • You ran the function. Someone else built it.
  • Growth means content and brand to you and nothing else.
  • You measure success through impressions and click-through rates instead of qualified leads and revenue
  • You want to manage an agency.
  • You would want thirty days to understand what is working before changing anything.
  • You want a defined role at a company that has already decided what it is.

Why This Role:

  • You run and grow the acquisition engine for a profitable company in a trillion-dollar industry that has decided to rebuild itself AI-first, at the moment that decision is being made rather than five years after it was made for you.
  • You are not starting from zero, and you are not inheriting someone else's mess.
  • You are getting a working AI system, the mandate to build everything around it, and a path to owning the whole thing.
  • Real budget, real accountability, real ownership. Hearth is profitable with 15,000+ customers. This isn't speculative brand spending — it's direct-response acquisition with real targets and real money behind it.
  • Real impact on real people. Over 50% of contractors go out of business without software like Hearth. When your campaigns work, a contractor in Phoenix stops losing 40% of inbound calls. A roofer in Texas gets home for dinner. The feedback loop between your ad spend and someone's livelihood is short and tangible.

Location

This role will be located in NYC alongside the rest of the technical Hearth team, the CEO, and other key roles in the business. Hearth believes in the energy, connection, and serendipity of in-person work culture for builders who are committed to building truly innovative growth systems.

Benefits

  • Mission-driven, values-based culture.
  • Competitive pay.
  • Unmatched opportunities to learn and develop; front-row seat at a fast-growing tech startup
  • Unlimited PTO, plus paid company holidays.
  • Meaningful equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision options.
  • 401(k)
  • Free Employee Assistance Program
  • Parental Leave Program
  • Pet Insurance

What We Do

Hearth exists because 50 - 80% of small businesses in the trades (roofers, plumbers, etc.) fail within their first five years. Our mission is to change that forever and empower small businesses to build and grow successful companies. We've built an all-in-one platform that helps SMBs grow sales, protect profits, and save time. With over 10,000 customers, Hearth is a vertical SaaS platform powered by a financial services layer that is currently powering billions in home improvement projects. Backed by the same investors as SpaceX, Stripe, Palantir, AirBnb, Rippling, Affirm, Brex, and OpenAI (FoundersFund, 8VC, Human Capital), we aim to protect small business entrepreneurship in America, redefine what is possible in running a trades business in today's rapidly changing world, and bring forth a future where every small business owner in the trades can succeed.

Why Work With Us

Hearth leads with a human-centric approach, building a culture around our people. We are growing, profitable in our base case, and are working to disrupt a fragmented, underserved, and $600B market.
