The Company
MaverickX is engineering the future of chemistry for natural resource extraction. We are
intensely focused on bringing economic value to our customers, shareholders, and employees,
while solving pressing resource challenges facing the United States and the world.
The Team
The Growth team is responsible for turning MaverickX’s research and technology platform into
transformational solutions for critical industries, and deploying them at scale. We own the full
commercial path: developing transformational products, building iron-clad customer
relationships, and deploying our technology safely, reliably, and with unmatched efficiency.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, high-agency Head of Product to take ownership over our
PetroX technology. PetroX is MaverickX’s portfolio of biochemistry engineered for the oilfield. It
is non-hazmat, non-toxic, and spans applications across the entire oil value chain, from
production through midstream and refining. The portfolio is in active commercial validation with
leading operators.
You will translate our chemistry platform into commercial products: defining what we sell,
designing the experiments that validate it, building the economic case that wins it, and serving
as the senior technical voice that closes operator conversations. You will report to our Director
of Growth and partner closely with our Chief Scientist.
Responsibilities
Partner with our chemists and biologists to formulate new products and extend existing
ones.
• Experimental Design & Protocol Writing: Design the validation programs and write the
protocols our lab executes: test matrices, success criteria, methods, and controls.
• Validation Cycle Ownership: Own the full validation cycle (internal lab, third-party,
customer) and turn outcomes into the proof points that convert pilots into wins.
• Portfolio & Lifecycle Management: Maintain a current view of where every product sits,
operating within our stage-gated framework with formal pass/fail decisions at each gate.
• Technical Sales: Be MaverickX’s senior technical voice with operators, service
companies, and distributors, and lead the technical relationship for major accounts.
• Product Economics: Own the technical inputs to unit economics (dosing, performance,
treatment cost) and defend the assumptions in customer conversations.
• Sales Enablement: Build the data sheets, performance summaries, and proposals that
win against entrenched competitors.
Qualifications
advanced degree welcome but not required
• 7+ years of oilfield chemistry experience, with hands-on formulation, application testing,
and customer-facing technical work
• Depth across the core production chemistry stack, including iron control, scale, corrosion,
paraffin, and flow assurance
• Direct experience in production enhancement chemistry, including stimulation,
completions, or enhanced oil recovery (EOR)
• Recent hands-on protocol experience. You can walk through a protocol you personally
wrote in the last 12 months (test matrix, conditions, success criteria, controls)
• Track record of taking products from concept to commercial deployment, including
formulation, lab validation, customer trials, and optimization
• Comfortable as the technical voice with operators, service companies, and distributors, for
both technical buyers and executive decision makers
• Strong commercial fluency on product economics, including dose, treatment cost, value
delivered, and payback period
• Comfortable with Excel for technical and commercial analysis; Python or comparable
tooling a plus
• Bias toward action and strong ownership; comfortable without a corporate playbook
• Strong desire to meaningfully contribute to American dynamism and the global resource
supply chain
Preferred Qualifications
chemistry, or midstream chemistry
• Existing relationships with technical decision makers at major operators, service
companies, or chemical distributors
• Experience with TSCA compliance, CAS registration, or chemical regulatory pathways
• Background in biochemistry, biotechnology, peptide chemistry, biocatalysis, or other
emerging chemical technologies in the oilfield
• Technical proficiency with business and analytical tools (Excel, PowerPoint, HubSpot,
Python, SQL, Tableau, Cursor)
Additional Requirements
• Willing to work extended hours, as needed
• Willing to travel to customer sites, other MaverickX facilities, and industry events
Our Values
their business more valuable. There is no deviation from this north star
• Play to Win: This is a professional team, not a family. Hardcore work ethic is a baseline;
measurable impact is how we define success
• Extreme Ownership: We are self-starters who learn voraciously, master our domain, and
take full accountability for the outcomes of our work
• Relentless Execution: A good idea is meaningless until it is solving a customer problem.
Moving with speed, focus, and determination is how we win in our industry
• Radical Candor: Focused, direct, and impactful communication is our language. No time
for beating around the bush
• Shared Success: Meaningful equity participation for employees means that when
MaverickX wins, everyone wins
• Uncompromised Integrity: We do first-class business in a first-class way, while staying
loyal to our customers, shareholders, employees, and country
Benefits
employees bring to our success and our commitment to recruiting top talent. We cater our
benefits to ensure our team succeeds both in and out of the office
• Premium health insurance: With medical, dental, and optical options, we offer some of the
best coverage on the market
• Continuing education: We take employee development seriously and strive to unlock our
team’s full potential through continuous learning initiatives
