The Head of Procurement is a leadership role accountable for building and leading a procurement function across the company’s global retail footprint. This role focuses on unlocking sustainable value from managed spend through strategic sourcing, demand management, contracts, and supplier management.
Reporting to the CFO, this role owns procurement‑related financial KPIs, strengthens internal controls, and ensures procurement decisions support profitability, cash flow, and risk management, while enabling brand growth, store expansion, and omnichannel development.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Value Creation
- Lead strategic sourcing programs focused on total cost of ownership (TCO), not just price
- Drive long‑term value creation through demand management, specification optimization, and supplier collaboration
- Oversee/Lead major supplier negotiations with direct involvement in high‑value or high‑risk contracts
- Design and execute category strategies and sourcing playbooks for key indirect categories to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with business priorities
Spend Scope & Category Leadership (Indirect)
- Own the end‑to‑end strategy and optimization of indirect spend, including but not limited to:
-Marketing & media, PR, creative & agencies
-IT, software/SaaS, digital & e‑commerce platforms
-Logistics, 3PL, warehousing, and last‑mile delivery
-Store development, fit‑out, fixtures, and maintenance
-Facilities, travel, professional services, and other corporate services
- Ensure category strategies and sourcing approaches support store rollout, omnichannel growth, and brand initiatives across priority markets
Supplier, Risk & ESG Management
- Manage financial, operational, and concentration risks across the supplier base
- Implement structured supplier performance and risk monitoring (financial health, continuity, ESG)
- Embed responsible sourcing, sustainability, and ethical standards into supplier selection and management
- Establish robust supplier relationship management (SRM) processes, including regular business reviews, performance scorecards, and joint improvement plans for strategic suppliers
Financial Leadership & KPI Ownership
- Own and deliver procurement‑related financial KPIs, including cost savings, cost avoidance, margin improvement, and working capital impact
- Translate procurement initiatives into clear P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet outcomes
- Partner with FP&A to embed savings tracking, budget control, and forecast accuracy into procurement processes
- Ensure benefits realization is measurable, auditable, and sustainably reflected in financial results
- Develop and maintain procurement dashboards and reporting to provide the Management Committee with clear visibility on spend, savings, risk, and compliance
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Establish and enforce robust procurement governance, approval matrices, and delegation of authority
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
- Strengthen contract lifecycle management and governance to manage financial exposure, liabilities, and commercial risks, including standardized templates, playbooks, and proactive renewal management
- Act as a key control owner in internal and external audits related to procurement and third‑party spend
- Design and optimize source‑to‑pay (S2P) processes and supporting tools to increase compliance, transparency, and speed while reducing manual, transactional effort
Stakeholder & Executive Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and Management Committee on spend governance, cost structure, and third‑party risk
- Support any business transformational initiatives from a procurement and cost governance perspective
- Lead change management to shift the organization from transactional buying to strategic, insight‑driven procurement, particularly with Marketing, IT, Store Operations, and Corporate Functions
- Influence and align senior stakeholders on category strategies, demand management, and standardization, while preserving brand, customer experience, and speed‑to‑market
Organization & Capability Building
- Build a lean procurement organization with strong commercial, analytical, and financial acumen
- Upskill the team in cost modelling, contract risk assessment, and value tracking
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and ethical conduct
- Define and evolve the operating model (central, regional, local, and/or outsourced) for indirect procurement to best support the company’s growth and complexity
- Define roles, career paths, and coach a lean, high‑performing team of procurement professionals (and key external partners where relevant)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain, with at least 5+ years leading indirect procurement at the regional or global level
- Deep track record in delivering value for indirect procurement categories
- Demonstrated ownership of financial KPIs and governance in a complex or multinational environment
- Experience managing audits, internal controls, and large‑scale spend governance
- Excellent commercial judgment and negotiation skills
- Strong data & analytics orientation and financial literacy with a deep understanding of P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet impact
- Ability to operate at both strategic and detailed execution levels
- High integrity, strong risk awareness, and a sound governance mindset
- Strong change leadership and stakeholder management skills, esp. in cross-cultural, matrix organizations; proven ability to shift buying behaviours and influence senior non‑finance stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex trade‑offs and recommendations for creative, commercial, and operational teams
- Experience implementing or optimizing e‑procurement / S2P platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Ivalua, Oracle/SAP, or equivalent) is an advantage
- Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, PMP, Six Sigma) are an advantage
- Experience in fashion, specialty retail, or consumer products with a multi‑country store network is an advantage
