About the Job
At Xendit, we are seeking a Head of Legal (Philippines) who embodies our values and represents our commitment to excellence in legal matters. As a leader within Xendit, you will provide strategic legal guidance and support to all areas of the business, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks. Minimum Qualifications
- Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
- At least 7+ years of PQE either as an in-house counsel or as a lawyer in a full-service law firm.
- Experience with the fintech and payments industry, banking, lending and other financial services.
- Experience in corporate practice, privacy, data protection, and labor laws.
- Corporate governance knowledge.
- Strong skills in drafting and negotiating legal documents.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
- Self-starter and resourceful in carrying out independent legal research.
- Excellent English language skills (written and oral).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in banking and lending.
- Knowledge in legal risk and merchant risk management.
- Previous experience as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and knowledgeable in data protection.
- Knowledge in using Confluence, Slack, Google Workspace.
- Background in business or sales with a solid understanding of organizational needs and goals.
- Previous exposure to scaling a company from 200 to 1000+ employees in a tech, B2B/B2C, SaaS, e-commerce, or payments startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal guidance and support to all areas of the business, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the Philippines.
- Develop and implement legal strategies that align with Xendit's business objectives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with customers, business partners, vendors, and other third parties, including regulators.
- Stay updated with new laws and regulations that affect or will potentially affect the business; prepare and present necessary advisories to leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct legal assessments of products, services, and internal business functions, identifying legal risks and providing recommendations to manage these risks.
- Partner with business and other functional teams to address legal issues and support business initiatives.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of documents and information for regulatory filings and applications.
- Ensure that all corporate documents are stored in the global repository of corporate documents.
- Assist in addressing and resolving disputes with customers and partners.
- Collaborate with the Global Legal Team to manage all legal matters and affairs, including the implementation and use of internal and third-party tools to streamline processes.
- Provide out-of-the-box and legally sound solutions to support the business.
