Position Summary: The Head of Human Resources will serve as the enterprise-wide HR leader, providing strategic direction for people management, organisational culture, and workforce effectiveness across the business.
This role will oversee divisional HR Managers and will be responsible for building and executing people strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency, and employee engagement within a demanding retail environment.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and execution-focused HR leader with strong experience managing large teams, driving culture transformation, and supporting business performance through effective people management.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide enterprise-wide HR leadership across all business divisions.
* Lead and manage Divisional HR Managers to ensure consistent HR delivery.
* Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
* Drive organisational culture initiatives that support performance and employee engagement.
* Oversee performance management frameworks and employee relations strategy.
* Ensure compliance with labour laws, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
* Implement scalable HR systems, policies, and operational frameworks.
* Partner with executive leadership to drive workforce planning and talent strategy.
* Lead change management initiatives across the organisation.
* Strengthen leadership capability across business units.
Candidate Profile
Professional Background
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced HR leader with strong core HR expertise and proven success leading people strategy within large, fast-paced organisations, preferably within retail or similar high-volume sectors.
The candidate should demonstrate strong people leadership capability, culture transformation experience, and the ability to drive HR strategy in high-pressure operational environments. The role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategy with execution while leading multiple HR teams across locations.
Requirements
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related field.
* Relevant professional HR certifications (CIPM, SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.
Experience
* Minimum of 12 years progressive HR experience, with 5years leadership experience.
* Proven experience leading large HR teams or multi-location HR operations.
* Demonstrated success in culture transformation, performance management, and employee relations strategy.
* Experience within retail, FMCG, banking or other fast-paced, multi location environments is highly preferred.
* Experience leading organisations with upwards of 3000+ employees
Functional & Technical Competencies
* Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
* Proven experience designing enterprise HR frameworks and systems.
* Strong experience in performance management and organisational culture initiatives.
* Experience using HR analytics, workforce data, and reporting tools.

Benefits
N4.2m – N5.5m gross monthly, negotiable for the right candidate. Status car. Relocation allowance offered if required.
