Job Description

The Head of Engineering is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving technical excellence, team capability, and strategic delivery across Experian Marketing Services UK&I. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader, passionate about building high-performing teams and delivering innovative solutions that align with business objectives. This role is critical to the success of major programs, which are currently undergoing rebuild on AWS.

Your team will focus on developing key products in this role:

Consumer Sync

Consumer Sync is a cookieless digital linkage solution from Experian that enables brands to securely match their first-party data to relevant offline and online IDs within the same household. Designed to overcome challenges posed by the removal of third-party cookies, it provides marketers with the ability to deliver consistent, scalable, and measurable omnichannel experiences.

Data Enrichment

Data enrichment in marketing enhances existing customers or prospect data by adding valuable insights such as demographic, behavioral, financial, and lifestyle information. This process helps businesses better understand their audience, anticipate preferences, and deliver personalized content through the most effective channels at the right time, ultimately driving engagement and improving campaign performance.

  • You will be #LI-hybrid based in Hyderabad and reporting to CTO.
  • Technical Leadership & Architecture
    • Own and evolve the technical architecture for EMS, with a strong focus on AWS, Python, React, .NET, and modern cloud-native patterns.
    • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions.
    • Champion best practices in CI/CD, DevOps, and software engineering, raising the bar for code quality, automation, and deployment pipelines.
    • Drive adoption of AI and advanced analytics, leveraging Experian’s standards and platforms (including Blue Optima) to deliver business value.
  • Team Building & Mentoring
    • Build, mentor, and inspire engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning.
    • Provide thought leadership and hands-on guidance to upskill the team in cloud, AI, and modern development practices.
    • Identify and address skill gaps, ensuring the team is equipped to meet current and future technical challenges.
  • Program Delivery & Transformation
    • Take ownership of current programs, developing and executing recovery plans to bring projects back on track.
    • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
    • Monitor and improve engineering performance metrics, proactively addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Business Acumen & Stakeholder Management
    • Understand and articulate the business case for technology initiatives, ensuring engineering solutions support strategic goals.
    • Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate technical vision, progress, and risks.
    • Contribute to Experian’s location strategy, ensuring the engineering function is optimally structured and resourced.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure robust security, compliance, and data protection practices are embedded in all engineering activities.
    • Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships effectively.

Qualifications

 

  • Overall 15+ years of experience in managing global teams and as Engineering manager with a proven record of delivering mission critical projects.
  • Proven expertise in AWS cloud architecture and migration (lift-and-shift and cloud-native).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, React, .NET, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience implementing AI/ML solutions and working with platforms such as Blue Optima.
  • Track record of leading engineering teams through transformation and recovery of underperforming programs.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, system design, and modern engineering methodologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise standards for security, compliance, and data governance.
