Head of Engineering, Agentic AI Platform

RELEX runs the planning decisions behind 600+ retailers and manufacturers worldwide, deciding, at real scale, what gets forecast, stocked, priced, promoted, and produced across the entire value chain. Enterprise software is being rebuilt around agents. RELEX Cortex is our next-generation agentic operating system: the layer where our products, our customers' systems, and AI agents work together. It is one of the company's most important strategic bets.

As Head of Engineering, you build and lead the team that carries it forward: scaling the platform, keeping it secure and dependable, and deciding what it becomes next. We are hiring a builder, not a caretaker.

We build the platform the way our customers will use it: by directing AI agents rather than writing code by hand. Running an engineering team on those terms is a new management problem, and the most interesting part of the job.

This role reports to the VP of Platform Engineering.

• Own security, isolation, and production readiness.
• Build and lead the team, and set how an agent-first team works.
• Own engineering end to end: code review, QA, release, monitoring, incident response, on-call, and the SDLC standards behind them.
• Own the platform boundary. Every capability you pull in is one every team gets for free and you maintain forever; every one you leave out gets reinvented differently by each of them. Nobody else makes that call.
• Own the area's technical and delivery strategy, hiring, team structure, and budget.

In order of importance:

1. Engineering excellence with leadership accountability. You have owned technical and delivery strategy for a product area and been accountable for delivery, quality, and team performance. You set the bar because you can see where it is.
2. Production and security judgment. You have run systems where multi-tenancy, security, and operability were not optional.
3. Team building. You have hired and grown engineers, set ways of working, and developed people beyond their current level.
4. Comfort with ambiguity. Scope, team shape, and priorities will keep shifting, and you will be shaping them.
5. Passion for RELEX's AI-native direction, and for using AI as your default way of working.
6. Fluent written and spoken English, with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Security experience: application security or multi-tenant isolation.
• Experience with platform, API, or plugin-ecosystem businesses.
• Familiarity with LLM and agent architectures, MCP, and connecting AI agents to real software systems.
• Background scaling engineering in B2B SaaS.

• Ownership of one of RELEX's most important strategic bets, with the autonomy to shape its scope, its team, and how the work gets done.
