About the Role
Reporting to the VP of New Product Development within the CTO organisation, the ‘Head of Design Management – Experience’ will build, lead, and inspire a new team of Experience-led Design Managers at Dyson. This role is accountable for defining and delivering exceptional end-to-end user experiences across all Dyson categories—including Robotics, Environmental Care, Floorcare, Beauty, and emerging new categories.
As a senior advocate for the user at Dyson, you’ll set the strategy, standards, and vision for what ‘world-class user experience’ means in a constantly evolving market. You’ll shape the team, guide high-profile programmes, and influence senior decision makers, ensuring our products deliver against Dyson’s ambition for innovation, delight, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of ‘Design Manager – Experience’ experts, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous growth.
- Set and maintain the vision, standards and strategy for a best-in-class user experience across both physical and digital journeys.
- Champion the voice of the user at all stages—from concept to daily use—ensuring that user insight drives decision-making, feature definition, and innovation.
- Guide, coach, and set the direction for your team, supporting individual development, training, setting measurable goals, and ensuring high performance.
- Define and drive the ‘Design Management – Experience’ function—hiring, training, and inspiring the team while embedding new processes and ways of working.
- Own and oversee all elements of end-to-end user experience across Dyson’s categories, ensuring consistency, innovation, and measurable impact.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional project teams, aligning Engineering, Design, Digital, Commercial and Supply Chain with user-centred goals.
- Define and embed requirements for data, analytics, and feedback mechanisms to ensure user insights shape ongoing and future product development.
- Benchmark Dyson’s product experiences against industry leaders, translating global trends into new opportunities and standards.
- Proactively identify opportunities to deliver new, future-facing user experiences that are inventive, differentiated, and defend Dyson’s position as innovation leader.
- Present strategy, progress, and user insights to C-level stakeholders, influencing investment and buy-in across the company.
- Hold accountability for the delivery of user experience objectives—on time, to specification, and within agreed cost and quality criteria.
- Cultivate relationships with global stakeholders, commercial teams, and external partners to extend Dyson’s user experience ambition.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, challenging the team to deliver better ways of working and new standards for the business.
