POSITION SUMMARY

EarnIn is a data-driven fintech, and our ability to innovate, scale, and deliver excellent customer experiences depends on a modern, reliable, and intelligent data foundation. We’re looking for a Head of Data to lead the vision, evolution, and operational excellence of our end-to-end data ecosystem—powering analytics, machine learning, and product engineering across the company.

This role oversees the teams responsible for EarnIn’s data persistence layers, state-of-the-art data platform, and business insights. You will guide the strategy for our next-generation data capabilities, strengthen data governance and reliability, and ensure our data systems remain modern and high-performing to catalyze our AI efforts. The Mountain View base salary range for this full-time position is $315,000 to $385,000, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This is a hybrid position in Mountain View, requiring in-office work 2 days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing data organization that spans engineering, ML infrastructure, and analytics.
  • Define and execute a company-wide data strategy that aligns platform, product, and AI/ML needs.
  • Manage key vendor and technology partnerships to accelerate EarnIn’s data capabilities.
  • Champion a data-driven culture by empowering teams to experiment, learn, and make confident, insight-led decisions.
  • Ensure the data platform is reliable, observable, and cost-efficient, giving teams clear visibility into the performance and economics of their workloads.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, finance, risk, marketing, and operations to deliver impactful, well-governed data solutions.
  • Shape technical direction across the company to ensure data is treated and leveraged as a strategic asset.
  • Drive roadmap planning, cross-functional initiatives, and operational execution with clarity and rigor.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, infrastructure, and systems
  • 5+ years of building and leading engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise with distributed systems (Spark, Flink), event-driven pipelines (Kafka), and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with Scala and Databricks is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of database design across SQL and NoSQL ecosystems.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD, Terraform, Git, and modern data orchestration.
  • Proven ability to implement data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and influence across technical and executive teams.
