The role encompasses the full spectrum of ethics and compliance risk: anti-bribery and corruption, antitrust and competition, anti-money laundering, human rights, anti-fraud, anti-terrorism, reputational risk, and beyond. The role holder will proactively identifying emerging threats, regulatory developments, and business environment changes that could impact the organisation, and work with the business to ensure risks are owned and addressed promptly. This role will play a key part in enabling business leaders to own and manage risk as a driver of sustainable success.
As Head of Compliance MA Americas, you will lead a team of compliance and risk professionals in a dynamic and exciting region. You will serve a diverse set of business and organizational units across the Market Area, partnering with business stakeholders to embed Ericsson's Ethics and Compliance program, enable genuine business ownership of risk, and drive accountability for compliance and sound risk management throughout the organization.
Ericsson's Compliance Office, under the leadership of the Chief Compliance Officer, has responsibility for all components of Ericsson's Ethics and Compliance Program. The program covers compliance with our Code of Business Ethics and spans the broad range of subject matters -anti-fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-terrorism, antitrust and competition, anti-money laundering, human rights, sanctions and export controls, plus the identification and management of emerging and reputational risks.
You will report to the Chief Compliance Officer and have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Market Area Head of Legal, sitting on both the Compliance Office Leadership Team and the Market Area Legal Leadership Team. This dual positioning ensures you are closely connected to both the global compliance agenda and the strategic priorities of the Market Area, enabling you to translate group-wide standards into locally relevant, business-enabling actions. You will collaborate closely with GFLA and other assurance colleagues on matters such as training and communication initiatives, risk assessments, third-party due diligence and monitoring, investigations and implementing remediation arising out of investigations. You will prepare analyses and report to stakeholders about the effectiveness of the ethics, integrity and compliance program and the state of risk across the Market Area.
In this exciting role, you will lead and ensure the development of a diverse team of Compliance and Risk Officers, setting expectations, managing performance, and fostering a culture where every team member is empowered to enable the business to succeed - with integrity. You will guide them in partnering with business stakeholders to make sound judgments, implement the compliance program, and support effective, business-owned risk management throughout the Market Area.
The role will preferably be based in Plano, Texas, but will also be open to candidates in Washington, DC.
In this role you will be expected to:
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Market Area's Ethics and Compliance program, ensuring the business operates successfully within a robust framework of controls and ethical standards.
  • Act as a solution-oriented trusted advisor, actively supporting business stakeholders in proactively identifying, owning and managing compliance and broader risk matters - providing expert advice, practical problem-solving, and clear paths forward.
  • Drive a robust culture of ethics, integrity and compliance and a sense of shared responsibility, empowering business leaders to take ownership of risk as a foundation for sustainable success.
  • Working in partnership with the Market Area Head of Legal, you will lead horizon scanning and emerging risk identification across the Market Area, encompassing areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, antitrust and competition, anti-money laundering, human rights, reputational risk, and other areas of regulatory and business concern - ensuring risks are identified early and escalated appropriately.
  • Lead the Market Area's Ethics and Compliance-related governance activities, managing relevant committees and boards such as the Market Area Remediation Committee and the Business Partner Review Board, while contributing to the activities of the Group Business Risk Committee.
  • Oversee, together with colleagues in Compliance and other group functions, the engagement, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of third parties.
  • Lead training and awareness initiatives, with the support of other Compliance colleagues, to equip stakeholders across the Market Area with the knowledge and confidence to manage compliance and risk topics in their day-to-day work.
  • Assess and manage actual or potential conflicts of interest, expenditure risks (including gifts, entertainment, and hospitality), and engagements with public officials.
  • Lead remediation resulting from investigations or other consequence management processes across the Market Area, whether relating to personnel, third parties, or process matters - driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across legal, internal audit, and other assurance functions to assist in holistic risk identification and mitigation across the Market Area, reinforcing business ownership of risk.
  • Provide input into improvements to Compliance Office programs and initiatives, bringing Market Area insights that strengthen global frameworks.
  • Gather and analyze ethics, compliance and risk-related data to continuously enhance the implementation of the program in the Market Area, ensuring any gaps in risk management practices are swiftly identified, communicated to business owners, and addressed.
  • Identify opportunities for the use of Artificial Intelligence in the compliance and risk program and promote its responsible use.
  • Manage an assigned budget, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to support the Market Area's integrity, risk, and compliance priorities.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Strong ethics, compliance and risk management credentials, including at least 10 years of experience in an ethics & compliance or related risk leadership role in a multinational organization, with demonstrable breadth across multiple compliance disciplines (e.g., anti-bribery and corruption, antitrust, anti-money laundering, human rights, reputational risk).
  • A legal degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating in the region, including in high-risk markets.
  • A proven track record of successfully partnering and collaborating with senior business, commercial, and functional leaders to identify, own, and manage risks - with a focus on enabling the business to succeed through sound risk management.
  • Experience in a matrixed organization and collaborating with different stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • An ability to simplify complex topics and communicate expectations and articulate risks clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in managing and developing a large and diverse team, with members spread across several locations.
  • Impeccable judgement, maturity, and discretion, including a demonstrated ability to engage in difficult conversations and constructive dialogue with senior stakeholders to address complex and sensitive issues.
  • A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, with the credibility and presence to influence business leaders and foster a culture of business-owned risk and integrity.
  • Working proficiency in languages relevant to the Market Area preferred.
