Position Title: Head Of Compliance, India
Reporting: Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer
Johnson Controls (“the Company”) is seeking a highly qualified compliance professional for the position of Associate Compliance Director, India. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for managing compliance programs, training initiatives, and supporting global anti-corruption and fair competition efforts within India.
How you will do it:
The Head Of Compliance, India, will collaborate with senior business management, leaders from Finance, Human Resources, and members of the Law Department. Reporting directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, the individual will be an integral member of the Compliance Leadership Team (CLT) and will work alongside Regional Compliance Counsels and global compliance experts to further develop and enhance Johnson Controls’ compliance program.
Responsibilities to include:
Developing and maintaining effective lines of communication with senior management in India on compliance matters and developing and supporting programs designed to enhance “tone at the top” and the Company’s “Speak Up” culture.
Identify opportunities for and develop and deliver focused training, communications, and compliance programs to address region-specific and unique compliance risks.
Reviewing and approving third party due diligence, high risk payment transactions and employee disclosed conflicts of interest relating to India.
Organizing and conducting Compliance Committee meetings for India involving senior business management and functional stakeholders from finance, legal, and HR.
Supporting internal investigations conducted by the Forensics team and owning and overseeing the remediation and disciplinary process. This includes managing the country’s disciplinary processes, including confirming that matters are appropriately escalated to the Disciplinary Sub-Committee, and exercising discretion as required to escalate matters as part of the disciplinary process.
Directing internal investigations carried out under legal privilege, focusing on areas such as anti-corruption, anti-trust, and other regulatory risks.
Responding promptly to detected offenses, including working with the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Regional Compliance Counsels, senior management in country, human resources, and local counsel, as appropriate, to develop corrective actions.
M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities in India.
Liaising with senior management to understand compliance-related needs, and leading or co-leading projects to ensure effective programmatic development to mitigate compliance risks.
Supporting corruption-risk assessments and reviews, fair competition, and anti-corruption compliance audits, and targeted compliance risk assessments of country business units.
Develop and monitor plans to implement policies, procedures, and standards of conduct throughout the country.
Assisting with developing and maintaining a data-driven, proactive monitoring program for customers, vendors, and employee transactions.
Providing day-to-day guidance and support to all Company employees in India on a wide range of compliance issues.
As part of the CLT, continuously improving the Compliance program, including introducing new and updating existing policies and procedures, training, communications, data analytics and monitoring, and other initiatives.
What we look for:
Candidates for Associate Compliance Director India must possess the following:
15+ years or more of related compliance experience, preferably in a multi-national corporation
Law degree or audit background is preferred
Knowledge of legal and regulatory framework in India is required.
Ability to work within a team framework, a matrixed organization, and across multiple cultures.
Proficient in use of word processing and other data processing programs, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
