Company Overview

Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are ‘Powered by Deepgram’, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgram’s voice-native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self-hosted and on-premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

The Role

Deepgram is hiring a Communications leader to make Deepgram’s point of view sharper, more visible, and more consistent across launches, media, executive voice, social, and major company moments.

While media is one component of the role, the broader objective is helping Deepgram earn trust and influence with enterprise buyers, developers, researchers, partners, analysts, and the broader AI ecosystem.

This person should help uncover and articulate the company’s beliefs, identify its best stories, and translate them into narratives and strategies that clearly communicate what Deepgram stands for and the role it believes voice AI will play in the future.

The goal is to move beyond being known as a voice AI API company and become one of the defining companies shaping how businesses build and deploy voice AI.

What You’ll Do
  • Own corporate communications strategy in partnership with CEO, CMO, and executive leadership.

  • Lead communications for product launches, model and product announcements, and company milestones.

  • Build Deepgram’s research and product credibility by making the company a place people come for technical insight, model progress, useful demos, customer proof, and a thoughtful perspective on where voice AI is going.

  • Mine stories across research, engineering, product, customers, GTM, and leadership.

  • Build messaging, narratives, press materials, executive talking points, Q&A, and exec briefings.

  • Manage proactive and reactive media.

  • Support executive communications and thought leadership.

  • Shape how Deepgram uses corporate social channels as part of the comms strategy.

  • Help Deepgram show up in the industry conversations that matter.

  • Support major moments, including the fall event.

  • Partner with brand, product marketing, editorial, and demand gen.

  • Establish lightweight comms processes for launches and coordination.

What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years in communications, with significant experience leading corporate comms, PR, or executive communications at a technology company and/or agency experience.

  • A track record of building communications strategy that moved a company's reputation or market position—not just generated coverage—including owning comms for major product launches and company milestones.

  • The instincts of a new media storyteller: you can sit with researchers, engineers, and product people, pull out the insight that matters, and translate it into a narrative that lands with technical and non-technical audiences alike.

  • Strong media relationships and judgment—you know which stories are worth pitching, when to be proactive versus reactive, and how to handle high-stakes or sensitive situations.

  • Comfort as a thought partner to a CEO and executive team, shaping executive voice across talking points, briefings, bylines, keynotes, and social.

  • Enough fluency in the technical substance to engage credibly on model performance, developer tooling, and enterprise AI deployment. You don't need to be an ML researcher, but curiosity here is non-negotiable.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder's mindset—you're energized by shaping a function that isn't fully built yet, and can create lightweight structure for launches and cross-functional coordination without adding bureaucracy.

  • A collaborative style, with experience partnering across brand, product marketing, product, demand gen, and GTM.

  • Excellent writing and editing, and a high bar for clarity and craft.

Bonus points
  • In-house experience at a B2B, enterprise software, developer-focused, or AI/ML company.

  • A point of view on how corporate social channels, thought leadership, and industry presence work together to build credibility and influence in the new media landscape.

  • Experience in a fast-moving environment where narratives and timelines shift quickly.

Why Deepgram

You will shape how the company at the center of the voice AI economy shows up in the world. The work you make will be seen by hundreds of thousands of developers and the enterprises building the future of voice. The system you build will outlast any single campaign. If you want your fingerprints on a brand as it steps into a new era, this is the role.
