The Communications & CSR department at Deutsche Bank delivers timely, effective and open communications with the bank’s stakeholders. It protects and builds the reputation and brand of the bank to ensure its continued strength, growth, and profitability. The team aims to make a positive impact as a valued and sought-after communications advisor on reputational issues across our bank.

Specifically, the Communications &CSR department partners with stakeholders at all levels of the bank on decision-making from a reputational perspective, supporting them in their dialogue with clients, employees and other stakeholders, representing Deutsche Bank as a transparent and credible partner.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with regional/global corporate communication team to develop a unified and coherent reputation management strategy for key Japan stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain relations with key internal and external stakeholders in Japan, including financial press, industry influencers, etc.

  • Media Engagement: including proactive pitching, relationship building, issues management, enquiry handling, etc., as well as news monitoring, as well as a focus on generating local media coverage for key global spokespeople

  • Issues Management: Advise on crisis management and critical media issues in a proactive and timely manner

  • Internal Communications: Oversee internal communications activities including leadership communications, announcements, content generation for internal communications channels, internal events and townhalls, etc.

  • Executive Counsel: Provide advice and insight to senior internal stakeholders based in Japan and abroad, about key Japan and bank media issues and the management of same

  • CSR: Oversee development and execution of integrated communications and CSR program for the bank in Japan, including CSR partner relationship management, recruiting volunteers, event logistics, as well as content generation around initiatives

Your skills and experience:

Role requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in senior level corporate communications/public relations in Japan

  • Relevant work experience with international/domestic media and/or an international in-house environment, with an active network and direct contact with key media participants in Japan

  • Solid understanding of financial services industry and macroeconomic/capital markets news cycle

  • Proven PR, diplomacy, and advocacy skills to effectively handle senior relationships within the bank and with external stakeholders

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Japanese; strong preference for native Japanese speaker

  • Basic creative skills including photography/videography

  • Strong copy-writing, story-telling, editing and proofing skills. Has the ability to turn complex subjects into engaging narratives that people want to consume across multiple formats

  • Interest in video production and digital channels. Seeks out new and engaging formats to keep our channels fresh and engaging
