A little about the role
As Head of Commercial Products, you will own the strategy, commercial performance and expansion of Capricorn’s non-financial product portfolio. You will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of established and emerging offerings across supplier, service, software and data-enabled products, ensuring each delivers strong value for Members, Suppliers and Capricorn.
This is a hands-on commercial leadership role combining portfolio management, product development and complex deal-making. You will manage large strategic accounts, lead contract and commercial negotiations with third parties and joint ventures, advise on product opportunities and M&A activity, and apply disciplined capital management principles to investment and growth decisions.
Leading a small team with opportunity to grow capability, you will work closely with senior leaders, internal specialists and external partners to strengthen existing products, develop new propositions and build a scalable portfolio for the future.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a commercially driven product leader who can move comfortably between strategy, detailed commercial management and high-stakes stakeholder conversations.
What’s essential
- Significant senior leadership experience across commercial product, portfolio or general management in a large-scale industrial, automotive, B2B services or similarly complex environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of high-value commercial portfolios or major strategic accounts, with responsibility for revenue, cost, margin, return and value creation at substantial scale.
- Advanced product management capability, including portfolio strategy, proposition development, lifecycle governance, investment prioritisation and performance optimisation.
- A strong track record in complex commercial negotiation, contract management and partnership development involving third parties, suppliers and/or joint ventures.
- Exceptional commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to assess business cases, apply capital management principles and make evidence-based investment decisions.
- Proven stakeholder leadership at executive level, with the credibility to advise on product development, strategic partnerships, acquisitions and new ventures.
- Experience leading, developing and building commercial or product teams while balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day delivery.
Highly regarded
- Experience across multiple product types such as payment or fuel solutions, software and data services, supplier or wholesale programs, or start-up ventures.
- Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, integration or the commercialisation of new ventures.
- Strong knowledge of governance, risk and compliance requirements across a diverse product portfolio.
- Experience developing products and partnerships that improve customer, member or supplier value in a mutual, membership or network-based organisation.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Economics or a related discipline is preferred. Formal qualifications or training in product management, commercial management or financial management will be highly regarded.
