Apex Group is seeking an experienced commercial leader to join our New Zealand leadership team as Head of Commercial – New Zealand.
This strategic role is responsible for driving revenue growth across new business, existing client expansion, and client retention while leading the commercial strategy and performance of the New Zealand business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute Apex NZ’s commercial growth strategy by identifying market opportunities, driving new business and client growth, and aligning sales initiatives with business objectives and market needs.
Drive new business growth by leading opportunities from origination to conversion, developing compelling proposals, and representing Apex NZ with clients, prospects, and industry stakeholders.
Embed commercial excellence through strong sales management disciplines, including pipeline governance, account planning, forecasting, performance reviews, and continuous process improvement.
Strengthen cross-functional execution by partnering with operational, product, client service, and leadership teams to align priorities, manage risks, and deliver successful client outcomes.
Develop and lead a high-performing commercial team through coaching, capability building, performance management, and succession planning.
Establish a scalable commercial operating model with strong governance, accountability, and data-driven execution to drive growth, retention, and revenue outcomes.
Required Skills:
10+ years’ experience in financial services, with significant experience in senior commercial, sales, business development, or client leadership roles.
Demonstrated success leading commercial outcomes across new business acquisition, existing client growth, and client retention.
Strong strategic capability, including sales strategy development, market analysis, and identification of commercial opportunities.
Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and embedding strong sales management disciplines and performance accountability.
Strong commercial acumen, including forecasting, pipeline management, reporting, and contribution to revenue performance.
Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to operate credibly at Executive level.
Experience using CRM and sales reporting tools such as Salesforce to drive commercial visibility, discipline, and decision-making.
Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms to drive performance and visibility.
