This role sits within what we call the "Funnel" team. They are the face of Funding Circle and work passionately to make sure small businesses have an incredible experience in getting the funding they need.
What will you be doing?
Loan collections & recoveries is an essential part of our business. Funding Circle is seeking an experienced SBA 7(a) collections leader to join our team in Denver. The right candidate enjoys building and taking on new challenges. They will have experience successfully managing an SBA 7(a) collections and recoveries team.

  • Management & Team Building: Oversee a team of 8-10 debt servicing professionals, with expectations to continue to grow the team over time.
  • Strategy Development & Execution: Work with the Chief Risk Officer to refine the medium- and long-term vision for the collections function, and execute against the plan.
  • Keep abreast of the latest SBA servicing and liquidation SOP and ensure collection and recovery activities are in compliance with the SOP.
  • Prepare and submit to SBA loan guarantee packages.
  • Debt Collections & Loss Mitigation: Develop and execute strategy for resolving non-performing loans. Negotiate settlements, manage recovery and liquidation of collateral, and be in charge of all other loss mitigation activities for SBA and Non-SBA portfolios.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Partner with Funding Circle's risk team to refine the data capture and monitoring system for Funding Circle's US loan portfolio (SBA and Non-SBA), and advise on preventative actions.
  • External Relationship Management: Manage relationships with our collections agencies and other loss mitigation advisors (e.g. law firms).
  • Compliance: Further develop policy for compliance with debt recovery and lending laws as the business scales.
  • International Coordination: Frequently interface with Funding Circle's US Credit, Risk, and Capital Markets teams to discuss recent trends.
  • Strategic Communications: Serve as point-of-contact for investors with respect to debt collections and recovery; further develop systems and processes to keep investors updated on their debt portfolios.

Are you?

  • 10+ years experience in managing a collections and recoveries team, including at least 3 years in SBA 7(a) loan collections and recoveries.
  • Highly organized with an ability to multi-task, work independently, plan, organize and follow through, and produce high-quality work products in a high-volume, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communicator with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to set goals and provide coaching to the team to attain high performance.
  • Resourceful and diligent with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right.
