Mission
We are looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Business Intelligence to lead our Business Intelligence and Data engineering teams. This role is pivotal in supporting Smartcat’s product and PLG growth model by supporting everyone in the organisation to make great and fast decisions based on easy access to reliable data.
Outcomes
- Leadership & Strategy: create and execute vision of Business Intelligence and Data engineering, with metrics to measure progress. We have an ambition to move toward a data product driven, self-service enabled organization and need a leader that can guide us in empowering our internal users.
- Team Leadership: Lead, Inspire, retain, structure and manage a team of strong data engineers, analytics engineers and product analysts.
- Collaboration & Communication: strong stakeholders management skills with business stakeholders, from CEO, CTO, VP Account Management etc.
- Own data stack including Data warehouse, ETL data pipelines, introduce and manage data governance, and data operationalization across Smartcat. We're in the process of transitioning architecture from on-prem, batch to cloud-based streaming and need someone to architect and lead that change.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data, business intelligence or data scientist roles.
- Effectively led data/analytics teams for at least 5 years and teams of at least 4-6 people, manager of managers a plus.
- Strong stakeholder management experience, and business savvy: strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to successful completion.
- Experience working with remote teams.
- Curiosity Mindset: the keen ability to dig into business opportunities and input to get to the root of hypotheses and problems, develop insights and learnings to be used across the company.
- Experience in small to medium-sized SaaS organizations with tech-driven products and learned from great leaders what good looks like a must.
- Demonstrated hands-on skills at a high proficiency level in:
- SQL (Databricks, Snowflake or other MPP warehouse preferred)
- Data modelling and architecture (dbt or similar)
- Business intelligence and insights (eg Tableau, PowerBI, Looker)
- Fully remote team
