Job Description

As a Layout Design Engineer within Micron's High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) Team in Guadalajara, Mexico, you will contribute to ground breaking solutions supporting artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing applications. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with global engineering teams in a dynamic, project-based environment while developing innovative semiconductor technologies.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical layout design of leaf cells, standard cells, and sub-blocks for HBM products.
- Implement and interpret physical verification checks including DRC, LVS, and related validation activities.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-functional global teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery.
- Demonstrate a systematic, meticulous approach to IC layout design while proactively managing assignments.
- Apply AI-driven methodologies to help automate engineering processes and accelerate product development cycles.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in VLSI, PCB design, pre-silicon development, semiconductor engineering, or related areas.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuit fundamentals and experience with circuit simulation and design tools.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with conversational English proficiency.
- Self-motivated great teammate with a strong passion for technology and willingness to grow within the semiconductor industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of pre-silicon development subject areas including analog circuits, physical design, and custom layout.
- Understanding of CMOS fundamentals, semiconductor fabrication processes, and analog layout concepts.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso (VLE/VXL), Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS, or similar EDA tools.
- Programming or scripting experience using languages such as Python or C++.
- Understanding of layout impacts on circuit performance, including speed, capacitance, power consumption, and area optimization, along with an AI-enabled mindset for technical and organizational innovation.
