Job Description

The Hardware Test Engineer performs electromechanical hardware testing activities including test development and execution under the direction of Project Engineers and Project Managers. Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, this role has responsibility for assigned aspects of test within a program including test execution, test and unit troubleshooting, knowledge of lab operations, and maintaining a safe working environment. Provides guidance to engineering technicians on assigned projects. Responsible for contributing to the development of new test processes and methodologies for the team. Focus is on delivering a high-quality product, in an efficient manner.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic level testing on hardware based projects at the individual circuit and complete product level
  • Contributes to the creation of test platforms
  • Contributes to the creation of product functional test plans
  • Contribute to the generation of product test plans including task identification, schedule generation, resources identification and cost assessment
  • Contributes to the implementation of product and system test set-ups
  • Participate in hardware/product design and safety reviews
  • Participate in the reviews of test plans and associated schedule
  • Development of product test procedures
  • Investigate product problems, with emphasis on hardware product support
  • Participate in appropriate support programs to assure that products continue to fill the customer's needs
  • Stay informed about new test technology developments and applications that can be used in products through participation in technology seminars, courses, and independent study

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of product development or testing experience
  • Familiarity with and ability to understand industry standards and specifications
  • Physical ability to use ladders and maneuver in and around large high power equipment and power cabinets and limited space areas
  • Ability to read and interpret computer programs, operating systems, and communications systems information

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Master's degree in a technical discipline
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products or other industrial control equipment
  • Experience with RS Logix 5000 or other PLC programming tools
  • Familiarity with UL508, UL891, and IEC 61439 product standards, and ISO 17025 laboratory requirements
