Verily's core strategy to advance precision health by closing the gap between research and care. Join our Devices team to lead the development of Verily’s Numetric Digital Biomarkers platform. Our end-to-end solution of hardware, software and machine learning allows Verily’s customers to capture patient-centered digital measures which are translated into meaningful real-world evidence, accelerating research and development.
We seek an experienced engineering manager to provide leadership for the Numetric Digital Biomarkers platform. This individual will work closely with key partners in product and commercial to contribute to the strategic vision for the Numetric Digital Biomarkers platform and align the engineering roadmap across multiple products and programs. This is a key role that will bring together the hardware and system engineering teams and will collaborate closely with software/firmware engineering, technical operations, data science, product, program management, UX, quality, clinical, security, and regulatory. This individual will also be responsible for communicating engineering roadmaps, project updates, and program needs to technical leadership.
This role will be responsible for growing the first party and third party device offerings within the Digital Biomarker Platform as well as collaborating across Verily to integrate our capabilities into other Verily product offerings. This individual will be responsible for contributing technically as well as leading and motivating a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in connected wearable devices, experience in managing hardware and system engineering teams, and a track record of delivering medical devices products from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the hardware and systems engineering product development efforts for the Numetric Digital Biomarkers Platform.
- Partner closely with product management leadership and software engineering counterparts to define a differentiated product development roadmap.
- Own engineering technical development and implement strategy for development working with the team on prioritization, resource allocation, and timelines.
- Lead, coach, mentor and motivate a team of hardware, sensor and systems engineers in their technical and career development.
- Oversee and manage the technical development and maintenance of device hardware (including electrical, mechanical, and sensors engineering) as well as integration of hardware (1P and 3P) and software on the platform.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field with 10+ years experience in hardware and systems engineering, building technical commercial products in a medically regulated environment.
- Experience in leading and managing engineering development teams across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong technical skills and hands on experience in hardware and systems engineering including integration with firmware and software.
- Experience in medical product development, design control process, quality and regulatory environments from concept through launch.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master or Ph.D degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years experience in hardware and systems engineering, building technical commercial products.
- Demonstrated experience launching complex products commercially, preferably in the connected devices and/or wearables space.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $208,000 - $276,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
