As a Controls Engineer with the Ride Control Team, you will work on creative solutions and implementing control systems for ride and show motion applications to enhance our guest experience. We are looking for a Controls Engineer that can chip in to the development of control systems for rides, transportation, and entertainment.
The Controls Engineer will work on electrical and electronic systems that provide motion control of ride vehicles and animation. We ask that you have knowledge of electrical design and software development in multiple languages in industrial controls or entertainment systems. We seek an individual that works well both individually and as a member of the project team.
This is an 30-month Project Hire that will report to a Team Leader, Ride Controls.
What You Will Do
- Develop software architecture and coding for Embedded Systems, Rockwell and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Develop and troubleshoot software and hardware on motion control Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and servo systems.
- Develop hardware and software design documents.
- Develop safety analysis documents used in safety critical applications.
- Translate C/C++ code to PLC software.
- Develop and troubleshoot software for industrial Graphical User Interfaces.
- Develop and perform control system acceptance test plans.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of experience in industrial controls or the entertainment ride and show industry.
- Proficient in PLC programming and C/C++.
- Experience in servo control system programming and tuning.
- Experience in safety related control systems.
- Experience in software development planning and documentation.
- Experience in version control and collaboration software tools.
- Knowledge of industrial network protocols, AS-Interface (AS-I), INTERBUS, ControlNet, Profinet, CIP and Ethernet IP.
- Experience in software testing and commissioning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with IEC - 61131 using Ladder Diagram and Structured Text.
- Knowledge of industrial control system hardware and system architecture.
- Experience in safety control system design using safety PLCs and safety devices.
- Experience in developing risk assessments and designs using IEC/ISO functional safety standards.
- Knowledge of I/O and Supervisory Network systems.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic servo control systems.
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
- Preferred: Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
