General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s.  Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

As a result of business growth and exciting new projects you will join us as a integral member of our hardware engineering team. You will:

  • Lead hardware aspects of unit design and development of electronic systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and cost targets
  • Integrate electronic components and systems into larger products, ensuring seamless functionality and performance
  • Demonstrate skills in managing timelines, resources, and project deliverables. Leading and mentoring junior engineers and guiding project teams
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

You will ideally be qualified in hardware, electronics or an electronic systems engineering discipline.

You will typically bring to the role:

  • A good understanding of the challenges associated with electronics engineering
  • Experience in describing the requirements, functions and interfaces on the component or sub-system
  • From analysis of the customer’s requirements, formalise the specification and the architectural design to develop the sub-system
  • Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential. General Dynamics Mission Systems actively support employees in attaining CEng status.

We have positions for Senior Hardware Engineer and Principal/Architect Hardware Engineer

Starting salary for these positions will vary dependant upon the experience of the successful applicant, ranging from £46,000 - £80,000, plus our excellent flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 3 days working in office) on a weekly basis or fully in our offices.
