Mid-level engineering position in the Huntsville Hardware Engineering functional department.  This position will support one or more projects performing design engineering analysis and execution for integration of Command and Control systems, such as radios, networks, antennas, and power equipment, in support of Department of Defense projects. These projects include anti-artillery systems, security and warning systems, air and missile defense components; installations in tactical wheeled and armored vehicles, aboard ships, or in operations centers; as well as associated support activities. Position supports a functional matrixed organization; employee's final program assignment may vary depending on staffing needs. 

Engineer Hardware 2/3 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, edit, and revise solid models, engineering drawings, Bills of Material, and independent material demands.

  • Main Liaison between Program Management and all executing functional areas required to produce contractual deliverables.

  • Coordinate between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, and Logistics to plan, execute, and expedite material issues in support of Engineering Change Proposals and production contracts.

  • Oversee the Design Engineering interface with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems, including the material master process and troubleshooting/expediting of transactions.

  • Liaison between program and Global Supply Chain in support of communications with suppliers and customers.

  • Collaborating with other functional areas on various aspects of product design/documentation, including procurement, production, logistics, or configuration management.

  • Responsible for tracking & reporting manufacturing and procurement status.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in engineering or equivalent real-life Program / Production experience.

    • For Level 2: 2 years of relevant experience in Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning, or Global Supply Chain.

    • For Level 3: 5 years of relevant experience in Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning, or Global Supply Chain.

  • Proven ability to lead or coordinate cross-functional teams to meet defined objectives.

  • Solid Modeling & Drawings /able to read drawings, find problems /explain intent to both HW engineering and Production teams.

  • Experience with manufacturing Operations and MRP systems (SAP preferred).

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain one; interim acceptable) .

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proactive interpersonal style.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced navigation of SAP S/4 or comparable MRP platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies.

  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes.

  • Understanding of DoD acquisition regulations and contract structures.

  • Experience creating Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs)

  • Ability to contribute to bid/proposal preparation, cost estimating, and technical content development for new C2 system contracts.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
