Duties & Responsibilities:

VIAVI Solutions is looking for an experienced Staff Hardware Engineer to work on industry leading communications test solutions. VIAVI develops communications test solutions for optical, wireless and electrical networks. VIAVI’s products help our customers turn up and maintain networks and to develop network equipment. Successful candidates must be able to work with global R&D teams and be able to work with a constantly evolving market. Candidates will be expected to design complex embedded systems with high speed network interfaces or analog front ends.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • BSEE, MSEE, BSCE, or MSCE and 4+ years of related experience
  • High-speed multi-gigabit digital system design experience
  • Experience with power supply design for embedded systems
  • Experience with PLLs
  • Experience with system clock design
  • Experience with designing products that meet EMC and Safety requirements
  • Experience with schematic and PC layout tools, Cadence Allegro preferred Experience with simulation and modeling tools including PSPICE and signal integrity tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with optical interfaces and modules (SFPs, QSFPs)
  • Knowledge of telecommunications is a plus. Experience in FPGA design and microprocessors is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas with people from across the world
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to detail; ability and commitment to produce a timely and highly accurate product
  • Experience as a project lead is a plus
  • Knowledge of EMC/Safety standards for test and measurement equipment.

223,210
