The Role

The Team
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for managing our Contract Manufacturing supply base for our Square Hardware portfolio.
You Will

  • Help develop a Contract Manufacturing (CM) sourcing strategy that encompasses both supply base and geography
  • Manage pricing and contract negotiations, vendor selection, relationship management, and supply assurance; utilize should-cost models to benchmark and aid in negotiations
  • Monitor vendor deliverables and schedules; track product roadmap and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure support and readiness of the CM partner(s)
  • Understand core business trends and industry dynamics; work with existing and potential new CMs to help drive decision making
  • Manage respective CM relationships and performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, and periodic business reviews
  • Work with Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Legal, Planning, Product, and Operations to manage Contract Manufacturers relating to Square hardware products
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability reviews with Operations and Engineering partners, and drive decisions from a cost and supply assurance perspective
  • Work with with operations on capacity planning, ramp readiness, yield, throughput improvement and issue resolution
  • Communicate to senior management about potential supply chain disruptions, business plans for changes, and status on strategy and execution of CM supply base
  • Travel ~15%, mostly internationally


You Have

  • 5-10 years of experience in Business Operations or Contract Manufacturing management roles, or have significant experience working in Business Program Management roles at a Contract Manufacturer
  • Ability to articulate complex manufacturing and supply chain concepts to business and engineering partners and management
  • Deep understanding of hardware manufacturing processes and a thorough approach in developing commodity risk management strategies in a dynamic global supply chain
  • Analytical with ability to build out should-cost models, supply forecasts, and other financial models
  • Exceptional relationship management skills for dealing with Square's diverse supply base

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
