Our Thales Netherlands IS/IT team works at the core of the Thales digital transformation. With a team of 130+ colleagues divided into 15 – mostly product related – Agile DevOps squads. We provide IS/IT support to our 2500 Dutch colleagues in several Business Lines and functions. We also work closely together with the international IS/IT departments of the Thales Group. Our mission? IT-Engineering Support (IT EngSup) is part of the IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands. The IT Engineering Support chapter (following the Spotify model) consist of 30 enthusiastic IT engineers and Consultants divided in three self-managing squads working together closely using the Agile way of working. The chapter consists of systems-, software-, and IT architects, application specialists and infrastructure specialists. We collect requirements, validate them against security protocols & design solutions and implement them together with the end users, but also with the other IS/IT squads. We maintain our own products and projects and are involved with the latest IS/IT developments within the Thales Group.

About the job
The day begins with a stand-up in which the squad looks back on what they have achieved yesterday, what they are going to do today, and if they experience or foresee any impediments. After the stand-up you’ll start working on deploying or improving the tooling and providing support to engineers. You are continuously working on the improvement of collaboration, within your own squad, but also between other squads. Following the Scrum principles, you work with the squad in two-weekly sprints in which you provide Hardware and Mechanical Engineers with new tooling - based on Linux and Windows - and supporting them in optimizing and/or automating of the use of those tools. Within these activities you’ll be responsible for:

• setting up, patching and maintaining existing and future Engineering applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows;
• supporting Hardware and Mechanical engineers with their applications;
• setting up and maintaining networks in different labs with around the Thales site; 
• automation of deployment and patching using Ansible and Puppet;
• having an active role in developing interfaces between different tools and Engineering disciplines;
• being the link between IT and Engineering departments; 
• actively introducing new technologies for the benefit of the team;
• working together with teams responsible for other Engineering domains. 

About you
We are looking for a new colleague with:

• a (technical) bachelor or master degree; e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Design, ITSM or similar;
• experience with use and setup of complex tooling in a dynamic environment;
• experience with administration of systems on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows;
• experience with one or more of the following engineering domains: FPGA design, Board design, RF, Electrical- and Mechanical Engineering; 
• experience with managing network technologies and routing/connection problem solving ;
• a customer oriented attitude and good communication skills; 
• problem solving and coordination skills; 
• a good command of both English in Dutch, both verbal and written.
