Job Description:

Standardized Patients (SPs) are individuals who provide a realistic patient experience for our medical student learners. One essential component of our SP program, are SPS that use their body as a teaching tool in the Gynecological (GYN) physical exam. The GYN exam is comprised of the following:

  • An inspection of the mons pubis, labia majora and minora, clitoris, urethral opening, and introitus for lesions or lumps.

  • A full speculum examination.

  • A bimanual examination.

  • A full breast examination.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED required and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Gynecological Teaching Associate (GTA) certification is preferred but not required.

  • Experience in education, or health care preferred but not required

  • Individuals who have not had any of their female organs removed (i.e., uterus, ovaries, cervix, breasts (lumpectomies excluded)).

  • Must possess basic computer typing and data entry skills.

  • Excellent ability to recall learner experiences.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Ability to follow directions and accept constructive criticism.

  • Must be very reliable and able to accommodate a flexible schedule.

  • Have reliable access to email for communication and scheduling.

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
