Guidewire Software Engineer (Specialist, Software Engineer)
This role supports the PLS Sales and Servicing Value Stream. The Sales and Servicing team is experiencing growth, with a focus on the agent and member facing experience. This role will be responsible for providing solutions that are leveraging current digital and cloud native technologies for our Auto, Property, and Umbrella product offerings at Nationwide P&C

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:
5+ years of hands-on experience working with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+
Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with IIBv10 Aggregation, Message Flows, Message Maps, and ESQL is a huge plus.
Understanding of RESTful APIs.
Understanding of Kafka and Microservices.
Monitoring using NewRelic and Splunk.
Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries.
Insurance experience is a plus.
Understanding of DevOps, cloud concepts, and Agile methodologies.
Ability to provide guidance to the team and mentor junior developers.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
