Summary

Our Professional Services team partners with customers worldwide to implement, extend, and optimize Guidewire’s industry-leading cloud platform for P&C insurers. We work at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer delivery to reduce implementation effort and time while driving measurable customer value and successful cloud adoption. You’ll join a collaborative, outcomes-focused team that blends deep insurance, cloud, and AI expertise to help customers transform how they do business.
In this role, as Guidewire Automation QA - Senior Consultant you will be involved in designing frameworks, defining test strategy, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality delivery of our applications in the cloud. You will bring strong JavaScript automation skills, CI/CD experience, and a passion for robust engineering practices to reduce manual effort and accelerate releases. You will collaborate closely with developers, DevOps, and project teams, mentoring others and using automation and AI to cut implementation effort and time in line with Professional Services’ transformation goals.

Job Description

What you’ll do
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable UI automation frameworks for Guidewire applications using TestCafe (hybrid, data‑driven, modular), JavaScript, JSON-based test data, and custom HTML reporting.

  • Define and drive the automation strategy for Professional Services projects, aligning test coverage, quality goals, and execution priorities with PS’s mission to reduce implementation effort.

  • Develop, review, and optimize robust automation scripts (primarily JavaScript) that validate complex, Gherkin/BDD-style requirements, ensuring reusability, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity) so suites run reliably from the CI server, supporting faster, safer cloud releases for customer programs.

  • Use tools such as Ignite to generate and refine Page Objects, and write custom JavaScript functions to cover sophisticated end‑to‑end and regression scenarios across web and API layers.

  • Execute and debug automation runs, distinguish application defects from script issues, and proactively fix and refactor flaky tests to keep the automation suite stable over time.

  • Collaborate closely with developers, architects, DevOps, and Professional Services project teams to plan test effort, estimate automation scope, and provide clear quality and defect insights using tools such as JIRA and test reporting frameworks.

  • Mentor and up-skill junior QA engineers and partner teams on automation best practices, contributing to PS’s broader AI- and automation-enabled methodology and knowledge sharing.

  • At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.

What you’ll bring

Required

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

  • 7+ years of overall QA experience with at least 3 years leading automation initiatives or acting as a senior automation engineer on complex projects.

  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript and experience building or extending test automation frameworks (UI and ideally API), including data-driven and modular architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern automation toolset such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium, and willingness to primarily work with TestCafe for UI test automation.

  • Practical experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity, Azure DevOps) and working with Git/Bitbucket for version control and code review.

  • Ability to interpret BDD/Gherkin-style requirements and translate them into robust, maintainable automated test suites.

  • Experience with test reporting and defect tracking using tools such as JIRA and test reporting libraries, providing clear, actionable quality metrics.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills, with experience working in cross-functional, globally distributed teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in Professional Services, consulting, or customer-facing project delivery environments, ideally in a SaaS or cloud context.

  • Exposure to P&C insurance or financial services domains, or a strong interest in developing deep insurance domain expertise as part of this role.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and running automation suites in containerized or cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Background in performance, reliability, or non-functional testing in addition to functional automation.

  • Experience contributing to test strategy, effort estimation, and quality risk assessment for large-scale programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Your Impact

We believe in clarity and setting you up for success. In your first six months, you will learn Guidewire’s product ecosystem and Professional Services delivery model, deepen your understanding of P&C insurance workflows, and take ownership of the automation framework and strategy for one or more customer implementation projects. You’ll streamline and stabilize our automated regression and end‑to‑end suites, integrate them into CI/CD, and help teams reduce manual testing effort while increasing coverage and confidence in each release. As you mature in the role, your work will directly support Professional Services’ FY26 priorities—using AI and automation to reduce implementation effort and time, accelerate cloud adoption, and ensure every customer is successful and referenceable—contributing to Guidewire’s broader mission to transform how the world’s P&C insurers do business through secure, AI‑enabled cloud solutions.
