The Role
The GTM Systems Architect at Zip will design and build the technological foundation of their Go-To-Market operations, ensuring that data structures are thoughtfully designed for efficient reporting and automation. Zip is tackling the $50B+TAM space to transform the way businesses manage spend. Our co-founders started Zip (YC S2020) because they saw the challenges companies had using outdated 20 year old software to manage hundreds of millions of dollars in spend every year. We invented the world’s leading Intake-to-Procure solution to bring a consumer grade user experience to B2B purchasing. And, we’re just getting started.

We're a fast growing team that helped scale category-defining companies like Airbnb, Facebook, Salesforce, Apple, Quora, Pinterest, and Square. With $180 million in funding from YC Continuity (Y Combinator), CRV and Tiger Global, we're valued at $1.5 billion in just 3 years. In today's economic climate, the value we offer our customers is more critical than ever and our business is accelerating. We're growing quickly and need your help!

Your Role: Zip’s GTM operations team is looking for a systems architect to build the foundational tech stack for our ambitious growth. All great GTM teams are powered by operational rigor – supported by thoughtfully-chosen technology, designed with truth-seeking in mind, and built in a way that can handle complexity but scales elegantly. Your job is to help us pick, design, build, and scale our GTM technology stack – to ensure that our tools maximize our people and enable our teams to move faster in generating revenue.

You will:

  • Design and architect how we view the world – insightful and fast reporting is only possible if data structures capture reality and if automation works every time. Thoughtful design of our stack and data structures is the only way we can grow the ops team efficiently

  • Curate and build our technology stack – from selection to maintenance to design to build to renew, you have strong POVs about what is the right technology that will move our business forward, knowing when to pick the established winner vs. when to bet

  • Partner with our GTM organization to solve their most important problems through the design and implementation of practical technology solutions

Qualifications:

  • You have deep business intuition – you don’t take requirements at face value, you can “go upstream” to the underlying business problem and design solutions your requester didn’t think of

  • You think in data structures – objects, relationships, data hygiene are always top of mind; you fundamentally understand how data is created and what happens to it

  • You value pace over process – you believe that shipping faster is usually the right answer, because you can see problems play out in real time vs. in theory; you know what it’s like to build systems at a startup

  • You have data analyst empathy – you think about how an analyst will pull the data and design structures that make analytics easier; you know what SaaS metrics really mean and how to calculate them

  • You know Salesforce like the back of your hand – you have strong, but flexible opinions built through years of trial and error

  • You have sales empathy – you know that even one fewer click is often worth doing

  • You write very clear specs – you recognize that for a complex job, writing fleshes out ideas and gives clarity to the end product

  • You have familiarity with major GTM tools – particularly Salesforce, CPQ processes, Outreach, Gong, and Clari

  • You have a developer’s mind – Salesforce flows come natural and you can think in variables, conditional logic, and loops; edge cases come naturally to your mind

You’re a scrappy builder – no task is too small, no project too big, you just enjoy the thrill of building

The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $190,000. The salary for this position is determined based on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant experience, education, or particular skills and expertise.
