The Role
Markato is a Digital B2B Ecommerce Marketplace connecting retailers in APAC with emerging brands from around the world. We provide retailers and brands access to new wholesale opportunities in Asia as well as seamless online and offline infrastructure to thrive in the modern world.

In April 2023, Markato closed a seed round led by Lightspeed. Since then, the company has assembled a founding team comprised of early employees at Deliveroo, Uber and Grab who led the launch and expansion of those marketplace startups across Asia over the past decade. Building on strong and sustained growth in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, Markato plans to launch across several markets in the coming year.

We are looking for talented, motivated, athlete-type candidates to join our Growth and Business Development team.

You will be taking ownership of our new customer prospecting and acquisition pipeline. The goal is to identify and engage as many prospects and customers as possible, as quickly as possible, through a highly tech-enabled way to achieve maximum efficiency. This role is a mix of sales, data analytics, and is perfect for any ambitious individual looking to build up a multi-faceted, client-facing toolkit in a fast-paced environment.

Recent graduates and less than 2 years experience welcome!

This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Cantonese

What you will be doing

  • Work directly with the CEO and Senior Management to support key accout sales and account management.
  • Execute high-velocity outbound prospecting, leveraging automated tools and processes. This involves cold calling, social media outreach, emailing.
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives across all business functions, experimenting new ways to grow the business.
  • Get creative and try out different tactics to reach the right person, and represent Markato in the best possible way to foster interest.
  • Qualify and triage inbound and outbound leads for the Growth and Business Development Team.
  • Implement, optimize, and automate sales operations processes to improve the efficiency and productivity of the team.
  • Lead client meetings and develop new sales relationships to grow business and help the company continuously expand.
  • The role is Full Time based in Hong Kong.

What we are looking for

  • Strong passion to work in client-facing roles and making others' lives easier, with any internship experiences in sales, management consulting, banking, high growth startups, marketplace businesses preferred
  • Fluency (ability to engage clients) in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin is strongly preferred
  • You are sociable and love to engage with new customers
  • You are hungry to win and like to chase after deals
  • You possess strong analytical skills to assess situations, identify issues, and implement improvements based on data and feedback.
  • You have the ability to both lead through influence and execute extremely well
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to synthesize at the right altitude
  • You want to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change and learn how a business gets built 0 to 1
  • You have a proactive mindset to initiative in identifying creative opportunities to improve the way we do things.
  • Good business acumen and interest in exploring the B2B ecommerce space
  • You have a bias to action!
  • This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Cantonese
