An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Group Finance Director in the financial services sector to join a well-established company, with international expansion plans based in London.


This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a business undergoing significant transformation and international expansion.


Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Chair, Board and Audit & Risk Committee, you will be responsible for building an institutional grade finance function capable of supporting ambitious growth plans, international expansion and potential future public market readiness.


About the opportunity:

Our client is evolving from a successful regulated financial services business into a broader international financial services group.


Over the coming years, the organisation plans to expand its product offering, strengthen its group infrastructure, grow internationally and establish the reporting, governance and financial framework required to support long-term strategic growth.


As Group Finance Director, you will lead the development of the finance function from the ground up, creating the roadmap, controls, systems, reporting capabilities and commercial insight required to support the next phase of growth.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Own and deliver the Group's long-term financial strategy, annual budgets, rolling forecasts, capital plans and funding strategy.
  • Translate business strategy into actionable financial plans covering revenue, margins, cashflow, liquidity, capital, tax and valuation.
  • Provide the Board and executive team with forward-looking commercial insight and robust financial challenge to support strategic decision-making.

Finance Function Transformation:

  • Design, build and lead an institutional-grade finance function capable of supporting business growth, international expansion and future funding initiatives. 
  • Provide leadership across Financial Control, Commercial Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Regulatory Finance, Tax, Group Services and Investor Readiness activities,
  • Establish scalable processes, systems and controls that enhance reporting accuracy, business insight and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a high-performance culture whilst building a sustainable finance structure that is scalable, automated and not reliant on individual knowledge holders.

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Own accounting policy, statutory reporting, consolidated accounts, audits and management reporting.
  • Establish robust controls, reconciliations and governance frameworks.
  • Deliver accurate monthly management information, regulatory returns and board reporting.
  • Build a single, trusted source of financial truth across the group.

Treasury, Regulation & Safeguarding

  • Lead treasury strategy, liquidity planning and capital forecasting.
  • Oversee safeguarding controls, reconciliations and financial governance within regulated environments.
  • Support regulatory developments, including expansion into enhanced payment and e-money capabilities.
  • Develop strong relationships with banks, liquidity providers, investors, lenders, auditors and advisers.

Commercial Insight & Performance

  • Introduce sophisticated analysis across products, clients, channels, sales teams and business units.
  • Develop reporting around revenue quality, customer profitability, margins, acquisition costs, lifetime value, cash conversion and return on investment.
  • Support pricing, investment decisions, resource allocation and strategic growth initiatives.

International Expansion

  • Lead the financial planning, control and governance associated with international growth.
  • Support overseas expansion activities, including entity structure, tax planning, transfer pricing, banking, regulatory considerations and operational readiness.
  • Establish frameworks to evaluate and support expansion opportunities in international markets.

Funding & Future Market Readiness

  • Build the governance, reporting and financial discipline required to support future institutional funding initiatives.
  • Lead readiness activities for potential future capital market transactions, including due diligence, investor-quality reporting, working capital analysis and stakeholder management.

We are seeking an accomplished finance leader with a proven track record of building and transforming finance functions within regulated, complex, multi-entity environments.


Required Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accountancy qualification.
  • Significant relevant finance leadership experience gained within complex, regulated environments.
  • Experience building or significantly transforming finance functions across people, process, systems, governance and culture.
  • Strong expertise across financial control, audit, treasury, FP&A, tax, regulatory reporting and board reporting.
  • Experience within regulated payment, e-money or comparable financial services environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, reconciliations, liquidity management, capital planning and regulatory finance.
  • Experience supporting funding activities and maintaining relationships with banking partners, investors, auditors and advisers.
  • Exposure to international expansion, cross-border structures and multi-jurisdiction operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to communicate financial insights at Board level and influence strategic decisions.

Skills Required
