Job Description:
dentsu is a network designed for what’s next, helping clients predict and plan for disruptive future opportunities and create new paths to growth in a sustainable economy. As a unified organisation, dentsu brings together deep expertise across media, creative and customer experience to deliver integrated solutions that drive meaningful progress for clients and society.
dentsu Creative operates in over 21 markets worldwide with more than 2,200 dedicated specialists. Bringing together our Japanese heritage in craft, data and technology, and our deep understanding of media and contemporary culture, dentsu Creative is a new global creative agency. Born in Japan, raised in a digital world. We help transform brands and business through the power of Modern Creativity: which creates culture, changes society and invents the future and is accelerated by our deep specialist expertise in digital experience, earned attention and entertainment.
We are now excited to invite applications for the role of Group Creative Director (APAC) with our awesome team in Sydney, leading creative excellence across the APAC region for one of the world’s largest creative technology brands.
The role:
As Group Creative Director, you are a senior, design‑first creative leader responsible for elevating creative quality and ambition across APAC. You will lead multiple creative teams across markets and disciplines, with priority focus on India, Korea, and ANZ, ensuring work is both highly expressive and measurably effective.
You are grounded in craft and visual storytelling, with a maker’s imagination and the operational fluency to guide ideas through modern content ecosystems - from concept to system, from hero to hundreds. You protect creative intent while enabling ideas to flex across cultures, channels, and platforms.
You will play an active role in setting creative standards, shaping global collaboration, mentoring senior talent, and driving agency growth through world‑class creativity.
You bring a future‑focused mindset, actively exploring and utilising AI, automation, and emerging technologies to evolve creative thinking, accelerate content production, and unlock new storytelling possibilities. You understand how modern tools can enhance - not replace - craft, and you champion responsible, thoughtful adoption of technology in service of stronger ideas, systems, and outcomes.
Core responsibilities:
Lead and protect a strong regional creative vision aligned to global strategy, ensuring design‑led, culturally relevant work at scale across APAC, specifically within the India and Korea markets.
Inspire, mentor, and develop regional Creative Directors and senior talent, setting a clear creative bar across craft, storytelling, and execution.
Partner closely with regional and local client leaders as a trusted senior creative voice, presenting work and guiding complex, multi‑market engagements.
Oversee creative operations to ensure work is delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standard across modern, dynamic content models.
Actively drive innovation, new business thinking, and creative excellence that fuels both client and agency growth.
A bit about you:
A rare, design‑first creative leader with a strong background in design, art direction, or conceptual storytelling and deep respect for craft.
Proven experience leading global accounts and scaling ideas across regions, cultures, and evolving content ecosystems.
Highly strategic yet hands‑on, with the ability to connect brand storytelling to performance, platforms, and data‑led outcomes.
Confident leading senior clients, complex regional teams, and multi‑stream projects with clarity, empathy, and creative authority.
Deep experience working across APAC - specifically with India and Korea.
Culturally curious and respectful, with a genuine appreciation for regional nuance and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse markets, cultures, and creative perspectives.
Comfortable and flexible working across multiple time zones, building strong relationships with global partners and teams while maintaining momentum, clarity, and creative leadership.
What’s in it for you:
Real flexibility to work when and where you feel most productive with our ‘Be the Best You’ policy which includes a $250 contribution to your home office set up.
The opportunity to give back with dedicated volunteer leave and our whole-company event, One Day for Change.
5 weeks annual leave after 2 years of service and 3 whole company Wellness days off per year for you to switch off and take your day, your way.
Career Development and Learning & Development opportunities, including access to our global online dentsu University.
Become a champion for meaningful progress:
Our diverse and inclusive culture enables our employees to bring their whole selves to work and be proud of doing so. For us, this is the foundation for great innovation which, in turn, generates better outcomes for our people, partners and communities. This is why we encourage applications from people with disabilities, and of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and cultures.
