The future is electric. Help us unlock more from the grid.

Electrification is accelerating, and the grid is becoming one of the challenges to making it happen.

At Kwetta, we’re tackling this challenge. We’re building technology that unlocks more from existing high-voltage grid infrastructure and helps customers electrify faster.

We’re looking for a Grid and Solutions Specialist who wants to get right into the hard stuff: grid constraints, load and power systems modelling, site layouts, network connections, charging demand and grid services. You’ll work across customers, electricity networks and some seriously smart technical people at Kwetta to turn complex grid challenges and opportunities into practical customer solutions.

If you like problems without obvious answers, and want your work to have a real impact on how electrification happens, this is a pretty interesting place to do it.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits right at the intersection of the grid, the customer and Kwetta’s technology.

You’ll take real customer sites and work through what’s actually possible: understanding charging demand, modelling load, digging into network constraints and tariffs, exploring storage and grid services, and helping shape the solution that makes the most sense.

But you won’t just model it. You’ll help make it happen.

You’ll work to support customers, EDBs and DNSPs, to navigate grid connections, bring together the right technical inputs and keep applications moving. Internally, you’ll work across Sales, R&D, Engineering and our Solutions and Grids team to solve the questions that inevitably sit between teams.

There’s plenty here to build, too. Better models. Better tools. Better network playbooks. Better ways of turning what we learn from one project into something we can use on the next.

Ultimately, your job is to analyse complex grid problems, bring the right people and information together, and find practical and innovative solutions.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll probably bring:

  • A background in electrical engineering, power systems or a related field, through formal qualifications or strong practical experience.
  • Experience across electrical infrastructure, energy, utilities, distributed energy, EV charging or another relevant sector.
  • A solid understanding of HV and LV systems, power distribution, load profiles, grid connections and grid integration.
  • Practical experience with grid analysis or modelling, and confidence interpreting network data, tariffs and technical and financial results.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships, bring different stakeholders together and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • A pragmatic, curious approach. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, you chase down what you need, and you keep things moving.

What You Get

  • A genuinely interesting technical challenge. You’ll work on grid problems that matter, with the freedom to dig in, challenge assumptions and help shape how we solve them.
  • Seriously smart, good people. A high-calibre, low-ego team where knowledge is shared, the best ideas win, people are accessible and we genuinely work as One Team.
  • Ownership and autonomy. We’ll give you context, trust and room to make decisions, build better ways of working and leave your mark.
  • A stake in what we’re building. Our ESOP gives you the opportunity to share in the value you help create as Kwetta grows.
  • Global work, Hawke’s Bay life. Work on problems spanning New Zealand, Australia and Europe, while living somewhere where most things are 5–20 minutes away, including beaches, wineries, trails and home.
  • Benefits that support life outside work. Flexible working, Southern Cross health insurance and support for your personal and professional development.

“We’re not doing what everyone else is doing, we’re flipping EV charging on its head.” – Conor, Director Tech & Growth
