Profile Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Graphic Designer with a flair for contemporary magazine layouts and a vision for integrating digital interactivity. In this role, you’ll create high-quality, engaging layouts, optimise content for online viewing, and incorporate interactive elements to enhance the reader experience. You’ll manage magazine uploads to our digital platform and work within our Content Management System (CMS) and workflow system (training provided). This is an exciting opportunity to work across diverse clients and help us push the boundaries of digital publication design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contemporary Magazine Layouts & Design: Lead the design of visually captivating magazine layouts that align with brand standards and elevate reader engagement.
- Digital Platform Management: Prepare and upload finalised magazine files to our digital platform, ensuring all content is properly formatted and accessible (training provided).
- Interactive Design Elements: Incorporate interactive digital components such as video, audio, GIFs, and animations within magazine layouts to capitalise on the digital format, creating a rich and immersive reader experience.
- CMS & Workflow System Coordination: Use our CMS and workflow tools to organise and streamline design projects, ensuring timely and efficient project progression (training provided).
- Creative Direction and Brand Consistency: Work closely with editorial and content teams to maintain a consistent visual identity across all publications and recommend improvements to design strategies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs are high-quality, on-brand, and free from errors, maintaining the highest standards across all projects.
- Trend Analysis and Innovation: Stay current with industry design trends, integrating new ideas and tools that can enhance our publications.
- Client Collaboration and Team Leadership: Engage with multiple clients to understand their brand needs, delivering tailored design solutions. Mentor junior designers and contribute to team development and collaborative brainstorming sessions.
- Ad Hoc Design Requests: Deliver on ad hoc design requests as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3+ years in graphic design. Experience with a portfolio that demonstrates experience in magazine or publication design is highly regarded.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), with a strong understanding of design principles, typography, and layout.
- Digital Platform Experience: Familiarity with digital publications and formats is highly regarded. Training on uploading and managing publications on our digital platform will be provided.
- Interactive Media Skills: Knowledge of interactive design tools or elements that can integrate audio, video, and animations into digital publications.
- CMS & Workflow Systems: Basic experience with content management and workflow systems (training will be provided).
- Project Management: Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple client projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to new priorities.
- Attention to Detail: Strong commitment to quality control, ensuring flawless design execution.
