Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Grants & Special Programs Manager position is a vital role focused on securing funding and resources to support organizational initiatives. This position will be responsible for developing grants, monitoring grant activities, and advancing Health West’s strategic priorities and mission of promoting health and wellness in the community.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Generate revenue for health center programs by identifying goals, timetables, program needs, and funding that support our patients, communities, and organization.
  2. Research grant funding and charitable donation opportunities, develop and submit grant proposals, and track and monitor grant activities.
  3. Monitor grant program progress, analyze data, and prepare reports pre- and post-award to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county laws and standards.
  4.  Maintain electronic records and knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations.
  5. Work closely with Executive Leadership and provide timely updates on grant requirements, procedures, deadlines, and status.
  6. Build and foster relationships with internal and external sponsors and stakeholders.
  7. Assist with completion and reporting for the Community Needs Assessment and HRSA Service Area Competition (SAC) grant application
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Attend company and departmental meetings.
  2. Exhibit a positive, professional attitude at all times with supervisor, co-workers, health center personnel, patients, and the community at large while adhering strictly to the confidentiality of company financial and patient information.
  3. Participate in the annual planning process.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, health care administration, public administration, project management, or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. At least two or more years of directly related experience in writing, developing, and managing multiple federal and state grant proposals, and researching and analyzing data.
  3. At least two or more years of directly related experience in grants management, including budgeting, monitoring, and managing grants and other restricted funding.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  5. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, providers, and external partners.
  6. High level of attention to detail and accuracy and exhibit a high degree of confidentiality.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Experience in government agency or other not-for-profit organizations is preferred.
  9. Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Proficient in Sage Intacct software is preferred.
  10. Must be organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with precision and thoroughness.
  11. Open to change and willing to learn new skills.
  12. Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines.
  13. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, work ethic, and dependability.

Skills Required
