Description of Work

Start your journey towards success! The Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for a Grant Administrator I position. This position is in Raleigh, NC.
This position works with a team on the implementation and monitoring of grant programs. Position follows grant awards, and monthly monitors project cash flow to ensure that projects are on schedule financially. This position is required to review monthly reimbursement reports for accuracy before final submission to the fiscal section for payment.
Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Monitors grant awards to determine compliance with Federal and State financial and program guidelines and to determine progress toward stated goals, objectives and daily activities.
• Submits financial reports to be reviewed by the grants management director. Reports include funding utilization reports, subrecipients monthly reporting, quarterly site visit reports.
• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (written and/or oral).
• Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
The Governor's Crime Commission manages Federal grants and State funds for the benefit of criminal justice and juvenile justice programs within the State, these grant programs include, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Victims of Crime Act, Violence Against Women Act, Children's Justice Act, Paul Coverdell, Byrne Justice Assistance Grants, as well as legislative funding to address specific issues. The Section supports the Commission in planning funding priorities for block grant monies, assures the efficient management of these funds and ensures subgrantee compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Salary Recruitment Range: $43,267.00 - $57,680.00

This is a full time TIME-LIMITED position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits for a limited duration of time (with the potential to extend up to 36months). The work schedule is Monday through Friday (8AM – 5PM). We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.    

The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences, including Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

Management Preferences:

• Working knowledge of federal and/or state grant.

Transcripts  

·       Attaching transcripts is optional; however, we recommend applicants attach unofficial transcripts to assist in providing credit for education including in substituting education gained for experience. Additionally, qualifying for some positions may require validating hours of coursework in a specific field of study and transcripts are crucial to awarding credit. Degrees and transcripts must be achieved from an appropriately accredited college or university.     

·       Applicants who earned college credit hours but did not complete a degree program must attach an unofficial transcript to receive credit for education.  

·       International degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.  Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.   Military Experience   

·       Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty that includes Character of Discharge - Member 4 or Service 2 form) to the application.

·       Applicants seeking National Guard Preference:   A current member of the North Carolina National Guard in good standing must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS).  A former member of the North Carolina National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.
