Develops and maintains correctional programs, coordinates work release, education, counseling, recreation, religion, and volunteer services, collaborates with community agencies, conducts investigations, monitors program effectiveness, supervises staff, and coordinates activities with custody personnel. Maintains reports and records for compliance and audits.

Responsibilities include monitoring incarcerated individuals, reviewing behavioral information, preparing reports, conducting counseling and crisis intervention, supporting suicide prevention, managing correctional programs, instructing safe equipment use, and maintaining security and accountability. The role requires working under stressful conditions, responding to potential violence, and conducting continuous visual and audio surveillance.

Provides direct consumer assistance through the North Carolina Department of Insurance’s Smart NC program. Duties include assisting with denied health insurance claims, medical appeals, external reviews, insurance complaints, and coverage inquiries. The role answers consumer questions and concerns related to health insurance denials and supports dispute resolution.
