Gaudenzia's Mission: Gaudenzia's Mission is to promote long-term recovery by providing comprehensive treatment and support to people with substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related conditions, regardless of individual circumstances.

Working within the Philanthropy and Grants Department, this individual is responsible for collaborating with various internal stakeholders to research, prepare, submit, and track grant proposals to Federal, state, local, and private funding agencies. This individual will be expected to develop and maintain knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, Gaudenzia's full continuum of treatment and recovery support services, and craft compelling proposals that advance the agency's mission and strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications:

Education/Training: Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required

Experience: At least two years of experience in proposal writing or editing in a similar industry

Your responsibilities in this role may include:

• Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups
• Actively prospect for new opportunities in alignment with organizational goals
• Vet opportunities in accordance with agency procedures to determine alignment with organizational goals, feasibility, and sustainability
• Write, edit, and submit grant proposals by the required deadline, with particular attention paid to ensuring completeness against grant instructions, grammar, and style
• Attend pre-bidder's conferences, draft proposal summaries for review by organizational leadership, and schedule and attend proposal planning meetings with relevant internal stakeholders, including but not limited to regional and/ or executive leadership, accounting, and other growth team members
• Support the development of goals, outcomes, and evaluation metrics by which the success of grant proposals will be measured
• Maintain accurate repository and database of grants submitted
• Conduct follow-up with funding sources on award status, as needed
• Understand the history, programs, outcomes, and financial needs of the agency and each region
• Coordinate and facilitate kick-off meetings to convene key internal stakeholders to ensure their understanding of programmatic and fiscal reporting requirements related to each grant in accordance with contractual requirements
• Maintain active grant calendar with upcoming deadlines, reporting requirements, and other key dates
• Collaborate with the post-award management team to ensure accurate and timely spend-down and reporting for grant-funded projects
• Evaluate grant outcomes to assess the impact and effectiveness of grant-funded projects and complete programmatic reporting, as needed
• Develop relationships with funders and provide updates of progress related to awarded grants, as needed
• Research and remain current on evidence-based and best practices for treating substance use disorder and current trends
• Leverage existing agency data to establish a need and develop cases for support
• Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Exceptional writing and editing skills with effective business, technical, and persuasive writing styles
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong research skills with ability to analyze, synthesize, and present information from different sources concisely and compellingly
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization, as well as communicate efforts effectively
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects and produce high quality work against a deadline
• Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
• Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with grants databases and prospect research tools
• Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and program development, including ASAM levels of care and evidence-based practices for the treatment of SUD and co-occurring disorders
• Knowledge of and experience with successful proposal development
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local grants, including capital and programmatic grants is highly desirable
• Experience in donor communications, including directly interfacing with donors and foundations preferred
