The Grant Writer supports the organization’s institutional fundraising efforts through identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals and reports, coordinating funder stewardship activities, and supporting the administration of the organization’s grants portfolio. This person will work on our Development team.

Duties:

  • Conducts prospect research and evaluates foundation, corporate, and government grant funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to discuss needs, collect information to support funding strategies, and develop compelling proposals and reports.
  • Develops and submits grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other written materials that secure funding and communicate organizational impact.
  • Maintains grant records, databases, calendars, reporting schedules, and compliance requirements to support accurate documentation and maintenance of grants portfolio.
  • Engages with grant portfolio to identify upcoming funding opportunities and deadlines, and provides recommendations that support the organization’s grants program.
  • Prepares stewardship communications, funder updates, and other donor-facing materials.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor's degree, preferably in non-profit management, communications, marketing, social work, journalism or a similar field.

Experience: A minimum 2 years of experience in grant research, writing, and submission; nonprofit development; and project management. Experience using donor management, fundraising, or grant management software preferred. Knowledge of Kansas and Missouri philanthropic landscape preferred.

Other: Frequent local, regional and statewide travel is required, with occasional national travel. Must be able to attend early morning and evening meetings and events as necessary.
